Crimped Paper Flowers - Video Tutorial by Patty Bennett

This is one of the fun projects we made at my Luv 2 Stamp Group meeting on Saturday!

The gals at the meeting learned how to make the paper flower and leaves using the crimper and then added it to the cute treat holder.  Demonstrators in my group who requested a long distance packet received all the supplies and tutorial to make this project.

Finished Purses from Scallop Die Purse Class

As promised.. here are the results of all our hard work at the Fabric Purse class last weekend! See previous purse class posts HERE, HERE and HERE for more info.

The purses use the Scallop Square Die and the Big Shot.  I was easily able to cut 6 layers of my heavy cotton fabric at once with the die.. it makes the project go so quickly!  Those using regular weight cotton fabrics cut 8 layers at once!

HERE IS ONE THING THAT IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOO COOL ABOUT THESE PURSES.... you can totally just turn them inside out and have a finished look, too!!  :)

Fabric Big Shot Purse - step by step

So... here we go...

We cut the fabric into strips, 5" wide, and layered it onto the Scallop Square die, then ran them through the Big Shot. It will cut 8 layers of fabric if it's regular weight cotton, or I did 6 layers since this was heavy weight cotton.

Lots of activity and fun....

We pinned the scalloped layers together with the batting squares inside.

Hey.. I'm REALLY SEWING!! Thanks to Cindee for letting me use her machine.. as mine is from Jr. High in 1972 and I wasn't sure if it still works...

Sew the 1st part of the X on each square.. making a long chain of them.  Then cut them apart and sew the 2nd part of the X on each square.

Cut apart the chain of squares and lay them out in the pattern you'll use for your purse.  You'll notice they all have the stitched X in the center.

TIP... I made a "T" with 2 pins to indicate which square was my top center square... as you have all these squares floating around, it can get confusing as to which one was at the top ...

I added a pocket flap to each side:

All the squares are now sewn together.. and when the sides are stitched you have a purse!

THE PURSE!!

Thank you to all of you for your excitement yesterday about the fabric for my purse!!!  I had the BEST time at Cindee's class... thank you Cindee for being a delightful hostess and teacher!!! 

HERE IS THE PURSE!!  OK>>> ME and the purse! :)

I was really daring for my first attempt and added POCKETS to the sides:

and I made a matching flower to go on it:

This fabric is heavier weight cotton than most of the fabric people have been using for these purses... it is also dry clean only... I had not planned to wash this purse like most people are doing.  This won't have quite the same "shabby chic" look as most of the scallop die purses.. but that's what I wanted.. so I'm really happy with it.

Fancy Favor Valentine Pouch

My friend Jan Wakeland is AMAZING... she blogged this idea awhile back and I KNEW I had to share it at my Valentine class!!!!!

I know.. you are saying, "OK, and WHAT'S so amazing about this!?"... well...... look what it is made out of:

It's made from the Fancy Favor Die Box cut out with the BIG SHOT!  (item 115965 - only like THE BEST die in the catalog!)

As you can see..only PART of the Fancy Favor Die Box has been used.. you cut off about 1/4 of it... and the GREAT NEWS about this project is....  to cut this part of the Fancy Favor Die ONLY TAKES 1/2 OF A SHEET OF 8-1/2" x 11" CARDSTOCK!!! WHOOOHOOO!

Then you fold the middle flap up and punch with the Heart Punch:

Then fold up all the bottom flaps and tuck one side into the other.. secure with a small piece of sticky strip.


 I added the Sweetheart Treat Cup in the opening and finished it off with some Sending Love DSP.  I used a "tag" from the Two Tags Die to slip into the pouch and that kind of holds the candy in.  All ordering info is below.

Big Shot Purse

I was sooooooooo blessed to receive this AWESOME gift at Leadership earlier this month!!  My dear friend, Lisa Lange from IL brought me this purse!!  I used it to hold my swaps.. it was PERFECT!

What is soooooooo cool about these purses is that each square is DIE CUT with our SCALLOP SQUARE die and the BIG SHOT!!!   For those who quilt and/or sew, you know this makes for a really easy project!!!

Patty's Leadership Samples - part 3

Here is another one of my favorite projects from my presentation at Leadership this week... the new Milk Carton Die (pg 23 in the Occasions mini catalog) all dressed up with accessories from the EGGCELLENT EGGS kit (pg 23 in the Occasions mini catalog) and one of our new epoxy brads!

Here is another fun way to use the Milk Carton Die - place 2 of them inside an altered Fancy Favor box die - thanks to Jan Wakeland for this fun idea!

It's decorated with the flowers and swirls from the EGGCELLENT EGGS kit.

Fabric Flower Pins

I have been really obsessed with wanting to try to make these pins, and a few days ago, I saw this AWESOME VIDEO by Christy Daugherty and I thought WOW... OK... I CAN DO THIS!!  Thanks Christy for the awesome instructions!  This project idea was originally shown on stage at our Stampin' Up! Convention in August 2009 by company owner Shelli Gardner and I've been intrigued by this idea ever since!

Here are 3 of the 4 pins I made tonight... I love black, white and red, so decided to stick within that theme to start off with:

These are soooooooooo quick and easy to make because you cut the fabric flowers out with our FLOWER FOLDS DIE and the STAMPIN' UP! BIG SHOT!!!!  I just hot glued everything together per Christy's video... so this truly is a quick and easy project.

Christmas Gift Tags

I had fun using up some left over scraps from Stampin' Up! Simply Scrappin' Kits and Designer paper packs... I used my {{favorite}} Two Tags die with the Big Shot and then layered scraps, punchouts and ribbons.  (Christmas Jingle kit: item 115696, and Merry Moments DSP:  115672).

Luv 2 Stamp Group Christmas Gift exchange - pt 3

Here are more fun gifts that were exchanged at our Luv 2 Stamp Group Christmas gift exchange last weekend.

These are the Window Sheet die cut baskets Joy made and filled with candy.

Here is a great tip.. she used a small strip of the window sheet plastic to "reinforce" the ribbon handle!

Fancy Favor Box die - with CARDBOARD!? :)

So.. do you remember when I blogged this project?  It is the Fancy Favor Box Die cut out of a WINDOW SHEET using the Stampin' Up! Big Shot machine .. ??  Well...   as I was cutting the 12x12 Window Sheets in 1/2 for my gals to use in class, there was a sheet of CARDBOARD in each package.. and I just HAD to see how it would look if I cut it out with the same Fancy Favor Box Die... and voila... toooooooooooooooo cute!!!!

 The box on the left was textured with the Petals a Plenty embossing folder just like the clear window sheet box was, and the one on the right above was just cut out with the Fancy Favor box die and then wheeled, stamped and sponged.

So.. moral of the story.... don't toss the cardboard! :)

 

Christmas Tag Ideas

I just LOVE the Two Tags Die and my Big Shot from Stampin' UP! !!  I don't know what I'd do without them!!

Here are a few tag ideas we made in class a couple weeks ago... hope you enjoy the inspiration!

The one in the upper left corner uses my favorite die: Top Note and it's a gift card holder. The others are "to/from"  tags using the 2 Tags Die.  DID YOU SEE the great SALE!? .... the TWO TAGS DIE IS ON SALE!!  CLICK HERE for info!

You can find the tag die on pg 198, and it's item code #115954. If you don't have it.. you need it! :)

 

Petal's a Plenty Christmas Tree!

This is the 4th project we made at my BIG SHOT CLASS.  I love this card and so did all of the participants :)  

This card uses the Petals A Plenty Impressions Folder from Stampin' Up!  It's only available for a limited time in the Holiday Mini Catalog... so if you don't have it yet, be sure to use my SHOP NOW link below to get it soon! :)  (item code 116824 - pg 21)

To make this wonderful tree, follow these steps.

1. cut a triangle from Stampin' Up! chipboard (any size or shape triangle is ok) - I had to cut 2 pieces and layer them together

2.  lay them ON TOP of your Petals a Plenty Embossing folder

3.  put your cardstock INSIDE the folder

 4.  put the folder (w/ cardstock inside) on TOP of tab 1 of the multipurpose platform and put a CLEAR PLATE ON TOP of the whole thing (have have detached tab 2, that is why you don't see it)

5.  run it through the Stampin' Up! Big Shot and you will get this!

6.  Cut a reverse mask to cover the flat portion of your card, and lay it over your cardstock.  Using a sponge dauber color the tree with any color desired (Old Olive used here)

7.  Do the same thing using Champagne Mist Shimmer paint and a different sponge dauber. (item codes 116806 and 102892)

8.  Color in the berries with a Real Red marker (item code 100052)

9. Layer onto Real Red and Old Olive.  I sponged the edges of my Sahara Sand cardstock with both the Old Olive and Shimmer Paint.

10. I punched a star from the "Bridesmaid" striped specialty paper and added a gold brad to the center. (item codes 109045 and 116479)

Add a greeting of your choice - we used printed greetings from My Digital Studio and punched them out with the Modern Label punch!

 

Big Shot Class card

Here is another project we made in our recent Big Shot class.  I was inspired by a card that Connie Babbert shared on her blog.  I loved the idea of using the Square Scallop Die and the Tag Die as background pieces on a card!!!  Such a fun idea!

We used the very popular NIGHT AND DAY Designer Paper from the Holiday Mini, and the "For all you Do" stamp set.  Stampers had a choice of the Jumbo Grommets or the Basic Gray Courdory Buttons for an accent.

Baby Carriage Card

I have sooooooooo many fun projects to share with you .. I need to catch up on sharing from my latest class and workshop!!   Here is one of the projects we made in my last BIG SHOT CLASS.  The idea came from Jill Hilliard in this post... thanks Jill for the inspiration!

For the greetings and baby images, I turned to my FAVORITE new toy, My Digital Studio from Stampin' Up!.. I printed out a few pages of baby images and greetings for class participants to punch out and use on their projects.  I didn't have any baby sets so this worked out PERFECTLY!

 In addition to my regulars, Donna and Bev came from an hour away to participate in class.. thanks for coming,  ladies!!

The Pattern for the carriage was cut from chipboard with the scallop die, then the side and notch were cut out with scissors.  (Kinda looks like a pacman, huh?) :)

 The Whisper White base card was 5x10, folded in 1/2 and layered with a 5x5 piece of Designer Paper from Stampin' Up!.  The 2 were cut TOGETHER on the scallop die with the fold placed just inside 4 of the scallops.  Info on cutting a die cut shape with a fold at the edge may be found HERE and HERE. After they were cut, the pattern above was placed on top, and the V shape was traced onto the scallop and cut out with scissors.
