Hmmmmmm… does this ever happen to you??? Probably not.. it’s probably just me… but… if you have experienced this, I have a solution for you !
When you mount a brand new "bold/solid image" stamp set, do you ever get a splotchy image like this when you ink and stamp it for the first few times?
Well, if you do.. I have a solution for you… grab your trusty Stampin’ Up! Sanding Blocks:
and gently sand the rubber – all over – all directions:
then clean your stamp on your Stampin’ Up! Stampin’ Scrub, re-ink your stamp and VOILA:
Isn’t that much better??? Wanna see it again?
Before: and After:
ok.. so there’s your helpful tip of the day! 🙂
And oh.. don’t you just LOVE the die cut rubber on the Stampin’ Up! Sale-A-Bration sets!!?? whooooooohooooooooo Stampin’ Up!
Have a great day!

Is that a rub-on I see on your nail??? They’re not just for stampin…also a fun accessory! Too cute! 🙂
Your not alone on this Patty – I just had this happen to me last week and I wasn’t sure why this was happening. THANKS for the awesome tip-I’m down to the craftroom to find that stamp set.
ALSO……You rock girl with the most impressive places to put SU Rub-ons! Looks GREAT! Going to a stamp camp tomorrow and going to plant one on my thumb nail-see if anyone notices. Kadie
You rock girl! I have been “sanding” my stamps on the grid paper before use but it takes a while. I was afraid to try the sanding blocks so now I am ready to jump right in. I can always count on you for a great tip!
Great tip. It does happen to me also. Thanks soooo much. Sue
Happens alot! You read my mind I had known to sand them and was just thinking I should do a post on this very idea. You are always very informative and quick to let others know just what to do.
This is sooo cool! TFS!
I can’t thank you enough for this tip! I’ve gotten so frustrated at times due to this very “splotchy” problem. So thank you thank you thank you for showing us the cure!
And yes, I love the die-cut stamps. Is it possible to hope this is a sign of things to come? Dare I dream?!? LOL!
Hi Patty

Great trick, I’ll have to try it!
Of course it does! Thanks for the tipo, Patty. I heard you can use an eraser on your new stamps, as well.
Wow…sounds scary, but I trust you…thanks!
Thanks for the reminder/selling point about the die-cuts – I had forgotten!
Fantastic tip !!!! Thanks for sharing this !! Have a great weekend 🙂
Wonderful tip…love your blog!
That is a coincidence! I just had that same tutorial, with the same stamp set, in the same format, in my blog on Tuesday! Isn’t that quite a coincidence?

Patty: I was at a stamp camp yesterday and someone had this happen to one of the stamps they were using and I mentioned it to her – She looked at me like my underwear was on top of my head – YIKES (SORRY!). She said that before she uses her stamps for the first time she spreads alcohol over the rubber. All I could think of is when I put stamp-sets together I do probably 5-8 of them at a time….Lordy I’m going to have to tell my husband to make sure he comes and checks on me to make sure I didn’t PASS OUT from the fumes. (Think I’ll try your way instead-WINK WINK!) Thanks again for sharing such a great tip with us. Kadie
Thanks for the fantastic tip
Thank you for the great tip.
