I have a couple great tips to share with you .. Well, maybe you already thought of this.. but I only thought of it the other day when I was making my Top Notes Die Cut book, and wanted to add brads to my Word Window punch out piece:
I don't know about you, but whenever I punch out a Word Window shape, and want to add brads to each end of it, the paper always ends up bending and seems too flimsy to put the brads in. So.. here was my solution… I snailed the DSP to a piece of the white cardboard that comes in the back of the packs of DSP:
Then I stamped my image and punched it out with the Word Window Punch. Then when I wanted to poke the holes with my paper piercer, it was nice and sturdy and the paper didn't bend at all!
Oh.. and that's my "Chic Stand" that I'm piercing into.. I love it.. my friend Angie sells them.. view her blog HERE for more details. 🙂
Anyway, so then it's easy to put the brads in since the Word Window shape is pretty sturdy!
My NEXT TIP… since the brad legs will be sticking out… snip them off with the Craft & Rubber Cutting Scissors from Stampin' Up!
So there you go.. lots of little tips today! 🙂
Hope your day is great!
Great suggestion, I just ran into this a couple of days ago and was frustrated with both the bend of the paper and having to deal with the brad legs that wanted to peep out from my paper! Thanks so much, Patty!!
Thanks for the great tips.

Thanks for the tips Patty. I don’t know why I didn’t think of “chopping” off the excess on the brads when they stick out.
Thanks for the tip about snipping off the brads. I’ve struggle with this so many times especially with make and takes. Can’t believe I’ve never thoguht about cutting them off. You are one smart chick!
Woohoo! Great tips, Patty! Thanks, you’re awesome!
What a great tip Patty!! I can’t wait to give it a try 🙂
Love your suggestions, Patty!! Wouldn’t have thought to use cardstock in the back, but it’s a great idea!
Can I add a suggestion of my own? If you have the pliers from the tool kit, use the cutting part of the wire to clip off the brad’s legs and then simply add the brad on your project with a glue dot. It’s great when you’re working on something sturdy where it’s hard to poke holes (i.e. wooden box, etc.) or when you don’t have easy access to the back (bag or box, etc.).
HTH!
Cindy 🙂
Thanks for sharing that Great Tip. Now I also have good use for all that cardboard I have been saving. Have a Great Day…..
Thanks for the great tip! My only question is does it hurt the scissors? I have done it before but I use crappy old scissors and it seemed like it left little marks, so I was just curious if the craft and rubber scissors are a stronger metal? 🙂 But again, thanks so much for sharing the tip about putting the CS behind, I have struggled with that also! 🙂
Patty,
Love getting your tips, and your great ideas. Awesome, awesome , Thanks. Now have to practice with the Big Shot. Love the die Cut Note Book.
Excellent! As usual. 😉
Thanks for the tip. Great ideas you have on your blog.
What great suggestions! I don’t have the stand you mentioned, but I love using the white rectangular “school” erasers that are 2/$1 at Walgreen’s for the same purpose (the pink ones work fine, too). And, I always have an eraser handy. : -)
