Thank you so much for your kind comments when I post my garden photos to Instagram and Facebook. I am thrilled that you enjoy seeing updates as my garden blooms each year! We had a ton of rain here in the San Francisco Bay Area this winter and then a mild spring so I think my plants are happy! My roses are all set to burst out with blooms very soon (ONE rose has bloomed!) and my Alstromeria, Wisteria and other bulbs are blooming!
Above and Below.. our Wisteria always blooms in late March.. always for our son's birthday!
I also have Alstromeria (in the lily family) in several colors.. these are my favorite flower next to a rose. They last 2 weeks easily in a vase and come in lots of pretty colors. I won't mention the fact that I fell a couple weeks ago right into my biggest Alstromeria plant and might have damaged some of the stalks… :( sadness.
Below: this is a huge 6' tall bush in full bloom .. I believe it's called Witches Broom It's one of the only remaining plants that was here in the garden when we moved in almost 20 years ago. I've replaced almost everything else.
Below: someone might want to confirm for me.. I planted these bulbs YEARS ago.. I think it's a crocus???
Thank you to Luzi who commented.. they are freesia :)
Below.. my first official Rose of the 2017 season!
Thanks for joining me today!
Hope you are enjoying some spring weather, too!

Hi Patty.
You have lots of pretty flowers in your garden! I believe the beautiful white one is a freesia 🙂
Greetings from Germany
Beautiful flowers!
What a lovely burst of spring ! You are blessed. Since we still have some snow on the ground here in Maine, your photos give me a glimpse of what is to come. Thank you for sharing your wonderful photos.
And he freesia smells so good. Another great flower for vase arrangements.
Here in New Mexico, we call the large flowering bush Spanish Broom instead of Witch’s Broom, though I have no idea why. It is seen in the landscaping of most of the oldest adobe houses in our oldest settlements here. Your flowers are fabulous!
Patty your photos of your garden flowers give me hope … we are still dealing with freezing temps at night here in Western Colorado. We are struggling to keep the blossoms on our fruit trees warm at this point. Seeing your gorgeous photos reminds me that warmer day will come. How blessed you are to live in a milder climate!
Seeing your beautiful photos of your gorgeous flowers really brightened my day Patty!!! Enjoy! 🙂
What a beautiful garden you have, Patty. Thanks so much for sharing. Makes me long for spring even more here in Michigan as I look out on the rain that is supposed to turn to snow overnight tonight and accumulate to a couple of inches! But temps are supposed to reach the 70s early next week. It has been one crazy winter for us this year with temps all over the board!
Your flowers are beautiful!
Hi Patty,
Your flowers are just gorgeous!!! I admire you so much living in a milder climate that allows such beautiful flowers to bloom so early. Just outstanding!! So sorry you fell. That is a downside of being out gardening. I hope you are feeling better from the fall and the bug you have been fighting.
Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful flowers. We are still getting snow where I am. Nothing grows here until June, and then we fear it will freeze. Gives me lots of happiness and hope to see yours. Thanks for sharing!!
Best wishes,
Karren
Oh my, what a stunning garden you have (plus a green thumb!). Thank you for posting those beautiful flowers from your garden. They made my day!
Patty,
Your flowers are just gorgeous! I have 3 jonquils blooming and we had snow last night. I LOVE the spring flowers! Beth
Patty as always thanks for sharing your gorgeous blooms…..We are getting some spring weather but can have frost until mid May.
Your flowers are so beautiful. We’ve had lots of rain too, but cold here in Michigan. Had 2 little blooms but nothing else so far. Think it got down to freezing last night so nothing soon around here, but hopefully next week will be warmer. Enjoy your pretty blooms. Edna
Patty, I always look forward to the pictures of your Spring Garden. They always make me smile.
Patty, You sure have a green thumb. Your flowers are always beautiful. I enjoy seeing them.
Keep up the hard work. Gardening is hard. I also love the flower cards you make.
You sure keep busy. God Bless.
Deloris
Your flowers are stunning. Where are you that they bloom so early?
Patty, your garden is beautiful…color me envious. I believe the creamy white flowers are Tuber roses (sp?).

Patty, after posting my comment I looked in some gardening books (which I should have done in the first place) and I have to agree with an earlier comment by Luzi…the flower in question is indeed a Freesia.
Your garden is absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful flowers! I would love to see a garden layout maybe a few pics taken from farther back to see how you have them all laid out. I am a trial and error flower gardener & I love to see how others have designed their flower beds!
I planted some smaller rose bushes & a climbing rose that someone was done with last year. I transplanted them but they all seem to have done fine! I think they are mini roses and the climbing rose didn’t bloom last year, but maybe this year 🙂 I’d like to try the Alstromeria if they will live in central IL. Not sure if our winters are too much for it???
