Flying Home Birds Nest Easter Card Idea

Stampin' Up! was so generous to give us this Flying Home stamp set at a leaders event in November in Salt Lake, and I immediately fell in love with it! I love birdies, I feed them in my backyard, and I love coloring in the images in this set with the Stampin' Blends markers!

After stamping the bird nest image onto Thick Whisper White paper with Memento ink, I colored it with Stampin' Blends markers.  I colored in the background with light Pool Party Stampin' Blends to give it the look and feel of the birds nest being on a branch outside in the sunshine!

Above:  At first I just created this card on a small thick Whisper White Note card (top image) and then I decided to "step it up" and I layered the Whisper White panel onto a Sale-a-Bration Tutti-Frutti blue polkadot card base with some extra layers of designer paper from the Tutti-Frutti paper stack.  I really like them both.  Do you have a preference?

Below: you can see that I stamped the bird house images a few times on the card in the background with Crumb Cake ink, as well as on the note card envelope flap.  I also layered the stitched shape circle onto a scalloped Daffodil Delight circle from the Layering Circle framelits (all products available in my online store.. just click any product photo images at the bottom of this post). The final touch for the birthday version was some Linen Thread tied around the note card.

This card started as an Easter Card idea, but then I found this cute greeting in the Bird Banter set and made a birthday card version, too!

  1. Those cards turned out absolutely darling Patty! I love them both, but the “stepped up version” is extra cheery with all the extra color from the background patterned pieces. Your coloring is just perfect, and I love how you stamped the houses on the envelope, such a fun touch! Have a great weekend 🙂
