Jason’s special Birthday Card

Yesterday was our son Jason’s 35th birthday!!! (WHERE did those years go???). I wanted to make a fun birthday card for this milestone!!

A colorful, multi-panel birthday card displays “35th HAPPY BIRTHDAY” with candle designs. Ink pads, stamps, cut paper pieces, and stamping tools are arranged on a table. Text above reads: “Milestone Birthday Card Idea for Jason & Jenny’s 35th birthdays.”. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

Some of you know this story, others don’t.. but I’ll share in case you are interested.. 41 minutes before I gave birth to Jason (35 years ago), my sister-in-law (my brother’s wife) also had a baby named Jenny. So for 35 years now, I refer to them as the twins with different moms. 🙂

Aren’t they such cuties??

Two toddlers sit smiling on a blue armchair. The boy on the left wears red-and-black plaid pajamas and colorful socks, holding a finger to his mouth. The girl on the right wears light pajamas, holds a toy, and looks happily to the side. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

I wanted to create these fun cards for them with 35 candles!

A craft workspace displays colorful paper strips with gold-foil flame tips, meant to resemble candles. Instructions explain to cut 1/2” x 3” scraps for candles. A white card base, scored and folded to make six panels, sits on the table alongside the supplies. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

I knew I wanted to make a special candle card but wasn’t sure which paper I would use for the candles. When I spotted the Splash of Sparkles paper, I knew it was perfect for a colorful, fun birthday card!!

For the flames, I had previously used the wing from the bird punch, but I couldn’t find that punch, so I used the 3 leaves from this retired leaf punch.. it worked out perfectly!

A crafting workspace with a white card, yellow and gold leaf cutouts, colorful patterned paper strips, and text that reads, "I used a retired leaf punch to make the candle flames." The PattyStamps watermark is visible on the bottom right. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

Stampin’ Up! Color Combo & the Banners:

My favorite part of these cards is the fun banners that help spell out Happy Happy 35th Birthday on these cards. I love this banner die from the Paradise Garden hybrid embossing folder / die set. The words and numbers are from the Layered Thoughts stamp set and the Simple Alphabet set.

A colorful, accordion-folded birthday card displays multicolored candles and the words "HAPPY 35th BIRTHDAY" in blue and orange. Three color swatches are labeled: "Timid Tiger," "Shy Shamrock," and "Azure Afternoon." "Patty Bennett" watermark is present. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

  3. You are so clever.
I like that you find ways to use a product for something totally not what it is used for.
The leave for the flames, great idea.

Even the layout of this card could be used different, put a picture inside.
