Video Replay: Paper Cutting Tips
I hope you enjoyed the tips I shared during my video yesterday: I answered one of the questions I get asked often, what is the best way to cut my cardstock and DSP layer for card making?
Missed the live? Watch the replay below in this post and shop for supplies online!
6 Cards from one 12×12
I started with the easiest design – cutting 12×12 patterned paper into 6 pieces to make 6 cards. (see cards above).
9 cards from one 12×12
When you cut 12×12 patterned paper into 9 squares at 4″x4″ each, you’ll produce patterns for 9 cards – see above & below. The Poppy Parade cardstock is 4-1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5-1/2″ then cut off 1-1/4″ from the top flap. This allows the 4×4 designer paper to layer perfectly.
Cutting 3″x4″ to make 12 front panels
I love cutting my 12×12 paper in increments of 2″, 3″, 4″ and 6″ to get the most out of my paper. The pull up card above and below showcases 3×4 pieces on the front panel, which yields 12 cards per sheet. (the 4″x5-1/4″ layer is covered at the top of this post)
I used the Willow White 12×12 paper for the pull-up part. Cutting it at 3″ x 12″ yields 4 of these pull up pieces per sheet.
Amazing Flap Card design using 1/2 piece of cardstock
It may not look possible, but both of the pieces of Pool Party Cardstock are cut from just a 1/2 sheet of 4-1/4″ x 11″ cardstock!! And the designer paper pieces are standard sizes (see image below) to maximize the paper and produce the least amount of waste.
