Strip Cards with Snowflakes: video tutorial

Use left over strips for Card Making Fun

On Friday, during our weekly live crafting video I shared these fun handmade cards with the left over strips of designer paper featuring the beautiful Snowy Delight Snowflakes! I hope you enjoyed the video – if you missed it, check out the replay below in this post.

A hand holds a festive greeting card decorated with patterned strips featuring winter trees, snowflakes, and green foliage. A large silver snowflake with blue gems and a round sentiment at the center reads: “If kisses were snowflakes, I’d send you a blizzard.”. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

I loved combining all different patterns from left over strips of Stampin’ UP! designer paper to make beautiful card fronts! I covered a 5-1/4″ x 12″ piece of White Willow 12×12 carsdstock with Seal adhesive, then started adding strips, both cut and torn strips to cover the whole piece. Then I cut it at 4″ and 8″ to create 3 cardfront size panels.

Stacks and strips of patterned paper with winter and holiday designs—snowflakes, holly, birds, and trees—are spread over a cutting mat. The papers are arranged in horizontal layers, showing various colorful and festive patterns. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

The stamped and die cut snowflakes I shared in the video are from the Snowy Delights bundle. It is fabulous! I die cut the snowflakes with Misty Moonlight Two Tone paper, Peaceful Garden Glimmer paper and Flower Garden Foils (all available in my online Stampin’ Up! store.. just click the product images at the bottom of this post to shop anytime!).

Large and small paper snowflakes in shades of blue and white are spread on a cutting mat. Stacking dies and cutting tools are visible. The snowflakes have intricate, detailed patterns. A watermark reads, “Patty Bennett pattystamps.com.”. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)
A display of handmade winter-themed cards decorated with blue and silver snowflakes, glitter, and "happy winter" messages. Snowflake die cuts and crafting tools are scattered. Text reads: "Snowy Delights Bundle Snowflakes! #165809 www.PattyStamps.com/shop". To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

Floral Charm strip cards

After making lots of wintery theme strip cards, I used left over strips I had from the Floral Charm designer paper.

Several rectangular panels made of patterned paper strips are arranged on a crafting mat. The strips feature various floral, leafy, and textured designs in pink, purple, green, orange, and white tones. "Patty Bennett PATTYSTAMPS.COM" is visible on the lower right. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

Dimensions for making Strip Cards:

Three cardstock pieces, each 5-1/4" x 4", are shown on a grid mat. They are covered in horizontal strips of floral and solid scrap paper. Text above explains this is for making card fronts by cutting a 5-1/4" x 12" piece into thirds. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

The 3 panels will make 3 card fronts!

Three handcrafted greeting cards with colorful floral patterns, layered paper strips, and a white rectangle in the center. The message reads, “Friends are flowers in the garden of life.” Each card has a different color border: green, blue, and peach. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

Try this fun strip card technique with any left over strips of patterned paper you might have!

I love this greeting.. it’s from the You are Remarkable stamp set.

Accordion Card Making Fun

In our weekly live crafting video on Friday, I shared these fun Accordion cards then made more cards with the left over strips of designer paper using the beautiful Snowy Delight Snowflakes! I hope you enjoyed the video – if you missed it, check out the replay below in this post.

As I created these accordion cards with Stampin’ Up! designer paper, I made some that could be used all year round, and others with snowflakes for winter or holiday cards like the Elegant Pines Snowflake patterns below.

Six handmade accordion cards are displayed in two rows. Each card uses patterned paper in blue, green, or teal with pine and snowflake designs. The front panel reads “Most Wonderful Time of the Year” in elegant script. www.PattyStamps.com is written above. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

Be sure to watch the paper scoring tip

If you are using a pattern of paper that is directional (has an “up and down” pattern) be sure to watch my cutting and scoring tip in the video so that your pattern doesn’t end up upside down.

Dimensions for Accordion Cards

  • Designer paper: 5-1/4″ x 12″
  • Score Designer paper at 4″, 7-1/2″ and 10-3/4″ (see video for orientation tip)
