Background Stamps = Quick and Easy way to create a fun, custom colored backgrounds for your card or crafting project!!
I hope you enjoy my Merry Medley background stamp Christmas cards today!
Stampin' Up! offers the Merry Medley background stamp in wood mount or clear mount options. I personally LOVE my wood mount stamps and as you can see by the photo below, I ordered this stamp in wood. See it on page 30 in the 2016 Stampin' UP! Holiday catalog, or online #142148 (wood) and #142152 (clear mount).
I stamped the background stamp on a variety of colors of cardstock in a variety of colors of ink. I've used Real Red, Cucumber Crush, Emerald Envy, Mint Medley, Soft Suede and Cherry Cobbler ink above. I decided to stamp a bunch of them and then decide what to create! I was sharing the stamp with my friend Joy, and I wanted to quickly stamp some backgrounds so I could lend it to her, but I didn't know what I was going to create at the time, so I just made a bunch!
After stamping all those backgrounds, I decided to make a quick set of 3 Christmas Cards by cutting down the background stamp to about 3" x 4-3/4" and mounting them onto the Stampin' Up! Thick Whisper White and Crumb Cake note cards (pg 176 in the annual catalog). I embellished each card with some ribbon, Candy Cane Lane Baker's Twine, and a little focal point tag.
All of the focal point "tags" are stamped on Thick Whisper White cardstock and die cut with the Round, Square or Oval Stitched Shape framliets and matted with a coordinating color cardstock, die cut with one of the Layering Ovals, Circles or Squares framelits. They are a perfect match made in Heaven! Click Here to see my video and more info.
The background on this card was inked with 1/2 Cucumber Crush ink and 1/2 Emerald Envy ink. I love the 2 tone effect!
The Merry Christmas greeting is found in the Hang Your Stockings stamp set, as well as the sweet holly leaves. I added the Real Red Enamel Shapes as the berry leaves. Oh and that sweet little snow stamp in the background? It's stamped in Pool Party ink using a stamp from the Christmas Pines stamp set.
All of the stamps, ink paper and accessories can be purchased in my online store here, or, click on the product photos at the bottom of this post for more info.

I created several Christmas tags that can be used on cards or other Christmas packaging, and I used the Christmas Pines stamp set, as well as the Hang your Stocking and Stitched with Cheer set, Real Red and Cucumber Crush ink and Thick Whisper White cardstock.
On the last of the set of 3 Merry Medley Christmas Cards, I stamped the background in Soft Suede onto Whisper White and mounted it on a Crumb Cake note card. I embellished the card with a pop of red on the "simple joys" tag and some Real Red enamel shapes, some Delightful Dijon striped ribbon, and a Christmas Trinket Bells embellishment.
