These Techniques were done prior to my blog, so I have them archived here for reference.
Faux Moon with Jumbo Circle Punch:
Supplies:
Cardstock and stamps of your choice (tree stamps work well), Jumbo Circle punch, sponges and dark blue ink(s)
Directions:
- Stamp tree images to create a “forest scene” on white cardstock.
- Sponge blue ink(s) onto the top ½ of the scene to give the illusion of a night sky above and snow below.
- Using the Jumbo Circle punch, punch a circle where you’d like your moon to be. Slide the punched out circle behind the hole to create a crescent moon.
- Adhere all pieces to a white piece of cardstock so that a white “moon” shows thru.
Poppin’ Pastels Technique:
Supplies:
Cardstock and stamps of your choice, Versamark Pad, Pastels, Sponge Daubers, Swiffer sheet (optional but helpful)
Directions:
- Stamp desired image(s) in Versamark ink on cardstock.
- Rub Sponge Dauber in pastel color then “daub” onto Versamark images
Be careful not to “rub”, which will cause a smeared effect
– think of a pogo stick “popping up and down” - Blow off excess powder from the pastels as you daub
- Apply a 2nd daubing of color to POP the images off the page
- Remove excess pastel dust with Swiffer sheet if desired

Faux Tile Technique:
Create a fun tile look with your Empressor Stylus!!
Supplies:
Whisper White or glossy white card stock, 12″ cutter, Empressor Stylus, solid stamps & ink of your choice, White Gel pen – optional.
Directions:
- Using your Empressor Stylus in the track of the plastic guide of the 12” cutter, create gridlines on your card stock at equal spacing. 1” squares look great on a card, you can use larger spacing for scrapbook pages, etc.
- Lay cardstock on your table so you will be stamping over the grooves; stamp with your solid stamps & ink – stamping/overlapping the depressed gridlines/grooves.
- There will be gaps in your stamping where you scored. This is the “tile” effect that you want. If the white lines aren’t bold enough, use your white gel pen to draw over any ink that is in the grooves to make the lines white & bold
Faux Shaving Cream Technique:
Adds a new Twist to your images without the mess!
Supplies:
- Cardstock
- Ink pads in 2 coordinating colors (such as 2 shades you would use for 2-Step stamping)
- Jumbo wheel in a bold design (such as Bodacious, Bold Snowflakes, Woodcut Holly, Poinsettia or Scatter Sunshine)
- Bold image stamps (such as any bold flowers, bold alphabets, Wild About You, Bold Butterfly, Wishing you the Best)
Directions:
- Ink your bold stamp in the lighter of the 2 ink pads you have chosen – does not have to be inked perfectly.
- Ink your bold Jumbo wheel on the darker of the 2 ink pads.
- Swipe the wheel across the inked stamp, twisting your wrist as you tap, slide or swipe across the stamp. Turn the stamp and repeat, turn and repeat again – so you have “swiped” 3 times. The goal is to create a “marble swirl” design.
- Stamp onto cardstock for amazing faux shaving cream design!
Crinkled Chalks Technique
Create a beautiful background with Chalk Ink and Saran Wrap!!
Supplies:
Matte Cardstock, Chalk Inks, Saran Wrap®
Directions:
- Take a piece of Saran Wrap and crinkle it up into a little wad in your hand.
- Take one of the chalk pad petals in your other hand and “ink” the Saran Wrap by dabbing the petal onto the saran. Color Box® Petal Point® Chalk Pads
- Dab the inked Saran Wrap onto your cardstock as desired.
- Repeat with a new piece of Saran Wrap and another color – apply to paper.
- Keep repeating until you have as many background colors as you like on your paper.
- Stamp image over your background.
Note: You can also try this with glossy or colored cardstock for a different effect.
Rock & Roll Technique:
Adds a unique dimension to your stamped images!
Supplies:
Solid stamps (shapes work well), 2 coordinating colors of classic ink pads
Directions:
- Ink your stamp up with the lighter of the two inks.
- Take your inked stamp and roll the edges of the image onto the darker ink pad.
- Stamp onto your card stock and you will have a 2-tone image with the edges darker than the middle!
Note: You can also do this with just one ink pad! Ink up your stamp, then stamp off to lighten the color… then roll the edges onto the same ink pad and then stamp on card stock!!

Salted Background:
Adds a unique texture to your background paper!
Supplies:
• Reinkers, Aqua Painters, spray bottle with water, salt, glossy cardstock, heat tool (optional)
Directions:
- Use drops of reinker in little cups or the lids of your ink pads. (Yoyo Yellow, Green Galore, Orchid Opulence and Tempting Turquoise were used here)
- Spray your glossy cardstock ON BOTH SIDES (to prevent the paper from curling) and then place it glossy side UP
- Use an Aqua Painter to pick up reinker pigment and squiggle or streak it onto the glossy cardstock. For a lighter result, use lots of water with the Aqua Painter. For stronger color result, use your Aqua Painter almost dry.
- Fill your glossy cardstock with color.. do not leave white areas unless you need white areas in your final project.
- Sprinkle the cardstock with salt – fairly generously
- Spray your artwork again with the water bottle
- Let air dry or dry using heat tool. The neat thing about using the heat tool is that you can direct some of the excess water and make colors blend or streak.
- When dry, wipe off with your fingers or a paper towel to remove salt.
- Use this finished artwork as a background for your project. I recommend stamping on acetate with StazOn and placing that over your salted background.

Watercolor Wonder™ Crayons:
Direct to Rubber with Wet Watercolor Paper:

Supplies:
Watercolor Wonder™ Crayons, stamp sets (2-Step images work best), watercolor paper, markers or pads for outline, Wide Watercolor Brush, water, Heat Tool

- Color directly onto the bold image stamp with your choice of Watercolor Wonder™ Crayons. Blend/shade with one or more colors as desired.
- Wet the watercolor paper with the Wide Watercolor Brush and water. Just get it wet… no need to soak the paper, unless you want really washed out images.
- Stamp solid image on watercolor paper. Repeat process until you have covered as much of the watercolor paper as desired to create your background. Images will blur and create a great background!

- Apply 2 or 3 or 4 ink colors with Stampin’ Sponges, working in a circular motion, and with a light hand. Avoid overlapping colors.
- Wipe off entire piece with a Kleenex to remove ink from embossed areas.
- Mount to card or project and embellish.
