48 Hours of Mother’s Day

Seems we celebrated Mother's Day for 2 whole days this weekend… in 3 locations, with lots of family and dear friends… here is a quick recap…

DSC03467 Saturday started with me picking a bouquet from my garden to take to my Mother in Law.  The Bennett side of the family had planned to all meet in Bakersfield where Eric's parents and several family members live (a 600 mile round trip from here).. we thought it would be great to have the whole Bennett family together to honor his mom…

So, I picked the flowers and readied them for travel…

THEN we got word that his mom had taken a bad fall and was in the hospital…  we still made the drive but had to visit her in the hospital instead of at the Bennett family brunch as planned.

Before leaving for Bakersfield, I attended the Mother's Day luncheon at our church with dearest friend Joy.

We coordinated so well in our pink and black :)

We took many family photos… This is Eric with his 4 siblings and the spouses. (my husband Eric is in the teal Sharks jersey and I'm in front of him).  his 2 brothers are on the far left and far right, and his sisters are in front in the peach and light blue.

and us .. I don't remember what they said, but it was funny and we all cracked up !

Bolow: Our son Jason is on the right, and these are his Bennett Cousins.. well, minus 1 who was working.

here are all the Bennetts, minus Eric's mom (in hospital) and one cousin.

Then we stopped for Mother's Day dinner on the way home… i asked our waitress for some ranch dressing for Jason and I to dip our fries……. think we got enough!?

And berry cobbler with ice cream to top off the night.

Now, my friends.. I pray that all moms had a blessed day, and thank you for spending a little time here on my blog.  I miss my mom greatly, but strive each day to live my life in a way that would make her proud.

  1. It must be so hard for you to have Mother’s Day without your MOM. Rest assured she is looking down on you and your Family and taking care of you and Blessing you everyday. Talk to her whenever you feel the need, that is what I do with my Dad, whom I miss terribly. I did not have a Mom and my Dad is the only Parent I know. When he left it felt like one of my arms got cut off. I was lost and didn’t know what to do or how to act without him. Slowly I healed, and you will too. Your Mom is Blessing you everyday with Love from Above. So smile and be happy for her, you will meet her again soon enough.
You two do look smashing in your coordinating pink and black. Did you plan it that way? Before you even mentioned it, that was the first thing that I noticed. 300 miles one way, that is an awful long trip just for the weekend! I am glad you had a great time and everything worked out for the best. I hope your MIL is not too badly hurt and will be home soon. I will Pray for her. Thanks for sharing all of the wonderful Family photo’s. It is always nice to see people with large family’s having a good time. Your Berry Cobbler looks fantastic, but don’t overdue it on that Ranch Dressing!!!Lol.

  2. Goodness….I knew some of the people, but you guys have added a lot more!! So nice to see everyone, sorry that Priscilla had to be in the hospital. Ron told me that she fell in the bathroom. Hope she will be ok.

  3. What a beautiful bouquet. I’m sure it brightened your MIL’s day in the hospital. Loved your family pictures. I know how hard it is to celebrate Mother’s Day when your own mother has passed. I try to make a scrap a memory – it helps.

  4. Patty, looks like you had a wonderful weekend, thank you for sharing. As for your “striving each day to live your life in a way that would make your mom proud”, I have no doubt that she is beaming with pride! I miss my mom too.
Ok gotta know, what is the name of that restaurant??

  5. Patty, You have more talent in your little finger that I do in my whole life. I so enjoy your video’s — trying to get the knack of digital
scrapbooking. I get so over- involved with the technical stuff, that I can’t get as creative as I would like to be.
That is so nice of you to take all the time to do the video’s for people like me and others.
You have quite a big family. So glad you could get together.
Just wanted to stop by and thank you for all you have done for us newbies.
