Several of you asked for more info about storing specific crafting items, so I will be doing a short series of extra blog posts with more info on how I store and organize specific items. Today we are talking about organizing Stampin' UP! framelits for the Big Shot.
As you can see, I use the Stampin' Up! Clear Mount Stamp Set Cases (available in the catalog or HERE online).
Tips Proven to Work Well for me:
- Slip in some designer paper to make them pretty (this is a GREAT way to use up your retired Designer Paper!), and I put a piece of magnet sheet inside to hold the framelits.
- The magnet sheets I use are self stick and were sold by Stampin' Up! years ago (I am sure hoping we sell them again some day!!)… but you can also find them online or sometimes in your home improvement stores in the HVAC section… they are used to place over your heating/cooling vents when not in use.
- One tip you'll also see above is that I like to buy 2 of each framelit set so that I can cut double the # of images/shapes at once.. it's such a time saver for me when prepping for an event or making multiple cards for Customer Thank You's or for swaps.
- Lastly, use a label maker to label the spine so that you can easily find the set you are looking for.

Need Stampin' Up! supplies?
thanks again Patty. I have already got them in the clear cases but Need to find a better label system!
Hi, Patty: this is pretty much how I store my framelits, too. I had an idea earlier this year and now I store the coordinating stamp sets right next to their framelits cases. Plus, giving in to my OCD tendencies, I even alphabetized the framelits. This saves me a bunch of time when I’m in the mood for specific stamp/framelit combos.
thanks so much for all your instructions and inspirations!
Many thanks for the instructions.
I happen to have lots of new unused DVD cases. Could I use those instead of the clear cases?
Do you keep the retired framelits and if so, how to you mark them as retired?
Hi Patty thanks so much for the idea and tips! How do you store framelits that don’t fit in the DVD holders like the envelop liner set?
Vicki, I should have addressed that, and I forgot.. they are still in their plastic envelopes from Stampin’ Up!, just to the right of all the stamp cases… I wish they were in the cases, but like you say, they just don’t fit.
Peggy, I do keep my retired framelits.. I just can’t part with them, and the good news is that they don’t take up much space! 🙂 I am going to label them with a sticker or something though, per your suggestion!! 🙂
Hi Patty, I love your blog. Have you found a good use for the plastic envelopes that the Stampin Up framelits come in? I store my framelits on magnetic sheets, and have been saving those envelopes. Have you seen any good uses for the envelopes they come in? Thanks. Amy Phelps
