One of the very first stamping "techniques" I learned 25-ish years ago was using my markers to color onto the rubber of a stamp – called "direct to rubber". I thought it was completely magical to be able to alter the colors on your stamp with markers!!
Today's Thankful for You fall card features that technique! I used the Stampin' UP! Stampin' Write Markers to color onto the stamp, then stamped it onto my Whisper White Paper and die cut the images. It's so pretty!!!
The card above also features a little peek of gold foil doily sticking out above and below the die cut image. (cut the doily in 1/2 so you don't have to use 2) 🙂
My Thankful for You cards feature the Thankful Forest Friends stamp set (pg 43 in the 2015 Holiday Catalog) and the beautiful (and I mean BEAUTIFUL) Into the Woods designer paper on the same page.
Each card has a piece of the woodgrain paper as the background, then a banner (punched with the Banner Triple Punch) in one of the other beautiful prints from that same Into the Woods package.
Click to watch the video: For tips on using the Triple Banner Punch.
I couldn't decide which cardstock color to use for the folded part of the card.. so I used several! Tangerine Tango, Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry, Soft Suede, and Chocolate Chip.
The Stampin' Write Marker colors I used to color onto the stamp are:
Hello Honey
Pumpkin Pie
Old Olive
Soft Suede
Chocolate Chip
After stamping a page of greetings onto the thick Whisper White cardstock, I die cut them using the Deco Labels Collection Framelit set and the Lots of Labels Framelits and my Big Shot. The magnetic platform is perfect for holding your dies in place! Both framelit sets work really well with this stamp image!

Good morning Patty, I LOVE your cards and they look great on all the different cardstock. Tangelo Twist would also be really pretty… I have a question about coloring with your Stampin Write Markers. Would it be best to color on the Rubber Stamp sets rather than the Photopolymer stamps? I would think the rubber would be easier??????? Have a great day
I am just now getting to look at your blog. I love the fall thank you cards that you created. The finishing touch of painting the stamp is perfect. Thanks for sharing.
