<<< Let me take you back… way back.. to the mid-1980's when Eric and I worked together at a Structural Engineering firm in Lafayette, CA. We worked together for 7 years – every day – it was amazing… I loved every single day!!!
Back then, the big treat of the week was PINK BOX FRIDAY! You know.. the wonderful, sugary treats from the bakery that the boss brings in … always in the Pink Box! I think they were from The Cake Box… best danishes and treats you've ever tasted!
Have you ever worked in an office with the Pink Box Friday tradition?
Now, 30 years later, Eric is carrying on that tradition in his current Engineering office, and he picks up donuts every Friday to bring to the office… in the Pink Box no less! 🙂
About a week ago, the office celebrated the 2 co-owners birthdays (since they are only a day apart!) with birthday lunch out, special treats and Gabe (one of the owners) got his OWN box of a dozen cake donuts with chocolate frosting and peanuts! Those are his faves, so he got his own box!
I made him a special birthday greeting to put on his special box with my punch art version of peanut covered chocolate donuts!
I made the other co-owner, Justen, a shaker birthday card with a punch art donut.
These cards feature the really festive and fun "Cherry on Top" paper stack with fun printed party designs! I also created my own punch art donuts… the instructions are here for you below:
You only need 2 punches and scissors to create the donuts really easily.. use any paper, any color, any pattern to create a variety of "flavors" of donuts!
On the donut below, I stamped "sprinkles" from the Celebrate Today stamp set (pg 102 annual catalog), but you could use any number of "sprinkle" images, dots, etc.
So what do you think… gold sequins for peanuts? Too silly?
I knew that Eric was getting a box of a dozen chocolate covered peanut donuts for Gabe.. so I did my best to create chocolate covered peanut donuts with the Stampin' Up! supplies at my desk 🙂
Yep, I put each individual sequin on with a dot of glue from the Fine Tip Glue Pen…. I decided right then and there I could probably never be one of those people who hand-beads or sequins a ball gown… know what I mean!? :) Click to view 3 TIPS for USING the FINE TIP GLUE PEN.
I created the shaker card by filling the opening with Stampin' Up! Metallic Sequins and Brights Sequins (pg 160 of the annual catalog). A window sheet seals all the fun inside!

Your cards are too cute. What a clever idea to use the gold sequins as peanuts!
WOW! Such a fun story, and a great tradition to carry on. Your cards are amazing!
Boy, I’ve never had a boss who’s done “pink box friday” … might be something to broach to my current employer!! LOVE the way you made the donuts to embellish the special birthday donut box and the card. Great job, and I really love how you used sequins as “peanuts”. Tedious but so fun! Have a very happy Halloween weekend!
Very clever, Patty, and the gold “peanut” sequins are not silly at all. I don’t have any birthdays coming until December, but I will certainly remember the punch donut idea. It’s a good one!
So stinking cute and clever! Pinning!
FUN!! FUN!! FUN!! Great Story and awesome Project….. Thanks for Sharing Patty!!!

Hi Patty,
What beautiful cards. The people at your husband’s office will be so happy. You have such cute ideas, and always so willing to share. Those donuts make me want to crawl right through the screen and capture one. Don’t they look so good? It is fun seeing you in younger years. You were beautiful then, and still just as beautiful. Thanks, Patty. Have a wonderful Halloween weekend.
Best wishes,
Karren
This is SO clever! My husband loves donuts (he told the kids that donuts are his weakness, haha) and this would make a fantastic birthday card for him! 🙂 Thanks for sharing!!
I so enjoyed your pink box story. What a great place to work that must have been. How nice that you got to work with your husband for those years. Priceless ! I must say that you look like a teenager in that photo. Treasure those memories.
I also loved how you decorated that pink box with the cards.
