No tricks this April Fools Day… just some pretty spring flowers from my garden to share with you!
One of the things you mention to me over and over is that you enjoy photos of my garden. I'm so glad you enjoy them and thought I'd show you what's blooming so far this year!
In my garden, I grow mostly roses and alstromeria. You can see the beautiful yellow alstromeria above.. it's one of my faves! I think I have 4 colors of alstromeria. I love to cut it and add it to my bouquets because it lasts a LONG time in a vase!!
Above: This is a Peace rose.. it's very happy in the sunshine… there are dozens of buds ready to bloom on this bush!
Above: A bunch of sunflower seeds planted themselves under the bird feeders.. so this year I just let them grow.. they are already all in bloom!! Why did I think that sunflowers bloomed in the fall?
Above: This is one of my pink alstromeria growing up in amongst one of the rose bushes!
Above: I think this is Star Jasmine.. it sure smells wonderful when it's blooming! It climbs all along one of the back fences.
Above: Another Peace rose silhouetted against the shade…
And more happy alstromeria!
One of my backyard buddies was resting, watching me in the garden.. they are so funny…
Thank you for letting me share a little about me, and my garden. I get asked all the time what my secrets are for gardening and success with roses .. truly I think it's the San Francisco Bay Area climate – perfect mix of warm, cool, rain and sun.. and yes, I do talk to them.. not sure if that helps. I prune them sometime between Christmas and Super Bowl weekend (how's that for a funny schedule) and they are always still blooming so it kills me to cut them back, but boy does it make them come back with a roar of new growth!!
Have a great day my friends!

Good morning Patty,,,, Thank you for sharing your flower garden.. They are all very GORGEOUS…. Here in Pa. just the spring flowers are blooming. Do you use Miracle Grow on your Roses and when??? My roses get brown spots on them and I’m really surprised about your sunflowers blooming already……Thank you and have a great day.
Thanks for sharing the beautiful pictures of your flowers! For someone who can’t grow much for flowers due to soil/climate conditions, I love seeing flowers others grow!
. . . just . . .. .LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!
Gorgeous garden Patty!
Beautiful garden Patty!
Patty, thank you for sharing photos of your garden. It made me really happy to see them. Here in CT we are waiting for the daffodils to open, which they typically open at the end of April. Because we have had some mild temperatures of late, we are about 3-4 weeks early in our blooms. Now we are awaiting some snow in the forecast! That’s New England for you! Thanks for sharing all your talents with us! Linda A.
Hi Patty,
Oh, look at your beautiful flowers. Flowers are among my most favorite things. We don’t really have the climate for them, but I do manage to grow what I can. The sunflowers flowering now is just crazy!! They only bloom here very late in the fall . Thank you for sharing your beautiful garden. By the way, Patty, the talking to the flowers really does help!! I know they hear you and respond. Thanks again for sharing ALL of your talents.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Karren

So much to enjoy so thank you for sharing!
Hi Patty – In Lodi, CA I have about 40 rosebushes. A few started to bloom about two weeks ago and will bloom til the beginning of November. I have rose trees, rosebushes, miniature rosebushes. I have Clark come out and fertilize them each year and i try to dead-head them regularly. I have a corner house, so a lot of viewing space. I do my best to grow zinneas in between them but back pain, and the drought has not allowed me to do this the past 2 years. I have tried many other things but zinneas always give me success with a lot of coverage and color. Your roses and alstromeria are beautiful!
Hi Patty!
Your garden is so beautiful. Here in WI we still have days of snow/sleet/rain – it is so good to see the lovely flowers growing in your garden! Wishing you a happy day! I will send in an order soon.
Hugs,
Barbara Diane
