I Spy a Flirty Flamingo!

Have you noticed lately that Flamingos and Pineapples are everywhere in the stores!?   They are so popular!  I love this flamingo stamp in the Pop of Paradise stamp set – NEW from Stampin' UP!  Find it on pg 85 in the new 2016 Annual Catalog.

I've been noticing Flamingos and Pineapples everywhere lately, so last weekend I started taking a few photos of them!!  Too funny!  Have you been seeing them too!?  Trendy!! 🙂

Flamingos and pineapples

I made this card when I was stamping with my friend Cindee, and we decided to do a "color block" background using 3 Stampin' UP! In Colors:  Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo and Watermelon Wonder.  Aren't they fun together?  We stamped the pineapple from the Pop of Paradise stamp set in the same color on each piece of colored cardstock (1-1/2" x 3-3/4") and added it to your 4"x5-1/4" piece of Whisper White cardstock.

I layered the Whisper White panel onto a top fold Flirty Flamingo card.  Before adhering it to the folded card, I added a piece of Peekaboo Peach ruched ribbon.

The flamingo was inked in (what else) Flirty Flamingo ink, and we used the Basic Black marker to draw on the rubber on his legs and beak, then stamped it on a 2" wide piece of Whisper White cardstock that we punched with the Scalloped Tag Topper punch.

The Thank You banner is from the new Thoughtful Banners stamp set and matching Duet Banner Punch (bundle and save 10% when you buy them together!).  It's stamped in Cucumber Crush and punched out with the Duet Banner punch.

To carry over the Cucumber Crush color, we stamped leaves from the Pop of Paradise set in Cucumber Crush and cut them out, then tucked them behind the tag.

Cindee suggested a pop of gold.. so we used a Gold Metallic doily behind the tag and flicked some specks of gold Wink of Stella pen onto the finished card!

I love stamping with Cindee.. we come up with some pretty cool cards! 🙂

  1. Good morning Patty, Had to pop in before going to work. I don’t usually work on Sunday mornings because I love to go to church but my boss was in a pinch so I’m covering this morning. Yes , we have a whole isle at Dollar Tree with Flamingos for Luau parties. LOL….. Just wanted to pop in and tell you I love your card. Have a great weekend

  2. I love those pineapple background blocks of color! I was at Target with two of my daughters a few days ago and I saw lots of clothing with flamingos and pineapples on them. I told my girls SU had stamps to match that trend – and I pointed out all the SU colors in the dress my one daughter bought – and they groaned LOL!
