The Brand New Stampin’ UP! Country Floral Embossing folder is AMAZING!! I embossed it with Watercolor Paper, and then watercolored on the embossed paper and I LOVE IT!!! The Country Floral Embossing Folder is available for a LIMITED TIME ONLY while supplies last, as your free Sale-a-Bration gift with a $50 online store purchase!
My cards today feature 4 different Sale-a-Bration products – each one a free gift with purchase. I used the Country Floral embossing folder, the Painted Seasons stamp set, the Sale-a-Bration organdy ribbon and the Home to Roost stamp set. See ALL of the free Sale-a-Bration gifts HERE.
Be sure to pin or save the graphic below so you have the instructions anytime you want to remember how to watercolor on the embossed Country Floral Image! The secret, I found, was to color one layer of each color first, let dry, then add another layer in a contrasting or darker color for the detail and shading. I did that with a slightly dryer Aqua Painter brush than the first layer.
I watercolored the one on the left, first, and added a really light Soft Seafoam green wash to the background after I colored all the flowers. I like it.. it reminds me so much of some of the fabric in the quilts from my great grandma and great aunts!! Then I did a 2nd version and switched up the colors and left the background white.
Color Combos:
Below you will find the 2 different Stampin’ UP! color combos I used. One is just a bit brighter than the other.
Flower Layering Tip:
Stamp 2 flower images from the Painted Season Sale-a-Bration bundle, and then trim away a few of the petals on one image. Layer the 2 images together for a little extra dimension and fullness.
Above: I added a sentiment from the Butterfly Gala stamp set stamped onto a die cut from my Stitched Labels Framelits. 6 sweet pearls from the Share What You Love Artisan Pearls pack and a little Old Olive Linen Thread bow finish off this card. I trimmed down the Watercolor Paper layer and layered it onto a piece of Gorgeous Grape Cardstock, then onto a Pear Pizzazz Side Fold Card.

Above: I added a sentiment from the Home to Roost Sale-a-Bration stamp set stamped onto a die cut from my Stitched Labels Framelits. A pearl from the Share What You Love Artisan Pearls pack and a Frosted Flower embellishment finish off this card. I trimmed down the Watercolor Paper layer and layered it onto a Grapefruit Grove Top Fold Card base. I added a stamped flower from the Painted Seasons stamp set and some Grapefruit Grove Sale-a-Bration ribbon.
