OOOOH I love my spooky Halloween Wreath created with Stampin’ Up! Coffin Boxes!!! I had so much fun making this DIY project with Cindee!!
Each wreath uses 2 packs of coffin boxes (24 total coffins) and we decorated ours with the Stylish Scroll embossing folder, Delicata Metallic ink, and some Monster Bash designer paper, all available in my online store – see product photos at the bottom of this post.
I have 6 tips for you today for creating your wreath.
Tip 1: For added texture, you can emboss the lids with the Stylish Scroll embossing folder, then add Silver, Gold and Copper Delicata ink with a Stampin’ Sponge.
Tip 2: You can also just add ink to the inside of your embossing folder and press it onto the coffin box lid without embossing it, as I did with the sample below.
Tip 3: Be sure to sponge all around the edges of the box for added color, texture, dimension and the appearance of them being worn and old!
Tip 4: When you have all 24 coffins ready, add hot glue to the INSIDE of the lid as shown below, then adhere the coffin box base and lid together. Then start gluing them together in a circle.
You still have time to make this fun Halloween Wreath decor piece!!
Tip 5: To help you get a perfect circle, you may wish to “build” your coffin box wreath around a standard size dinner plate!
Tip 6: For the back, we cut a “donut” or “ring” shape out of a 16″ cake circle (cardboard circle). We applied it to the back with hot glue and it really helps stabilize the wreath!
Finally, don’t forget to embellish your wreath!! I used some Monster Bash paper die cut with the Stitched Nested Shapes, matted with Gold Glimmer paper, and embellished with a Wicked die cut and some stamped pumpkins from the Harvest Hellos set! Please find all of these Stampin’ Up! supplies HERE in my online store, or click any of the product photos at the bottom of this post to shop!
Below is a close up of the 3 different ways I decorated my coffins.
- embossed with Stylish Scroll embossing folder then added Delicata ink
- add Delicata ink inside the embossing folder and just press down with your fingers on the coffin box lid
- add Monster Bash designer paper to the lid
I really love it!! Do you display decorations or a wreath for Halloween?
