If you have not tried Snowball cookies or Marylou’s Magic Cookie bars, you are in for a treat! I wanted to share 2 of my favorite Christmas Cookie recipes with you!
Snowball Cookies were my absolute favorite Christmas cookies as a child. I loved making them with my mom when I was young, and then making them on my own as an adult. I know there are many versions of this cookie using different nuts, but my mom always used walnuts.
My mom, Marylou Burns, coined the name Marylou’s Magic Cookie Bars for these wonderful treats. She used to make them to take to family gatherings.. they remain a favorite of mine to this day!

That’s funny, growing up, we made those same two cookies and I still make them today, also! As a matter of fact, that exact recipe was printed on the Eagle Brand Milk can label and was titled Magic Cookie Bars. I guess some things are really timeless! So wonderful that you have precious memories of baking with your mother. I have really been enjoying your Christmas card ideas. Thank you and Merry Christmas!! 🙂
My favorite cookie is the cutout Christmas cookies. I love a variety of all kinds of cookies though. I haven’t found any I didn’t like!
thank you Patty for my card that you sent me. it is so cute. I loved that I found your site. I appreciate stampinup and the fun I have.
Have a merry Christmas ? ? ❤
Patty, just saw your cookie recipes and they look great. I plan on making a batch for each. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for sharing your recipes with us, Patty! They look delicious!
Oh, my goodness…both of these recipes sound good! Which do I make first. I used to make cookies as a child to give as gifts to family. See’s million dollar fudge and what is called ‘hay stacks’ were my favorite. Now I make Eggnog bread. Happy holidays to you and your family.
Your 2 Christmas cookies sound good. I’m going to try both this year. Thanks.
I love both of those cookies and haven’t made them for years! Thanks for the recipes. 🙂
