Cute Hey Girlfriend cards colored with Stampin’ Blends

Coloring… it’s my therapy… and I needed lots of coloring therapy over the weekend!!  I had a great time creating these cute Hey Girlfriend cards using Stampin’ Blends markers, and some paper piecing!

Hey Girlfriend Card Above and Below:  after stamping the 3 girlfriends with Memento black ink onto Thick Basic White cardstock, I colored their skin and hair with Stampin’ Blends markers, then decided to do a little paper piecing for their clothes.  It was a bit like paper dolls in the 60’s when I was growing up!  I stamped the same image onto a piece of the heart patterned paper from the Snail Mail designer paper package, and used my Paper Snips to cut out the dresses, then glued them onto the card!

I used the Stitched Whimsy dies for a stitched border on both the front and inside of the card.   I also added a “binding edge” of the same Snail Mail designer paper on the left side and some cute red and white ribbon from the Playful Pets trim pack.

Granny Apple Green, Balmy Blue and Magenta Madness were the bright zippy colors I used as my main colors.  It’s pretty zippy but it’s also totally fun!!

My favorite part about making these cards was trying out different Stampin’ Blends marker colors for the girls skin and hair.  I’d recommend Light Petal Pink, Ivory and Light Crumb Cake for the best variety of skin tones.  You can also layer 2 different colors together.  I colored Light Petal Pink on top of one of the Crumb Cake and loved that as well.  See ALL available Stampin’ Blends colors here.

The Hey Girlfriend stamp set has such cute sentiments… it was hard to decide which ones to use!

Below is another look at the Stitched Whimsy dies.  Fun stitched pattern!!  It only does the stitching lines, it doesn’t actually cut out anything.  All of these card making supplies are available in my online Stampin’ Up! store, or click on any of the product photos at the bottom of today’s post!

  3. Very cute!
In order… granny apple green, paper pieced, then primary colors, but anyone who was on the receiving end would love any of them. Good job.
