THANK YOU to the 116 of you who weighed in on Dec. 8th on my “circle or square” question on my Facebook page!! I colored these adorable new images from the new Stampin’ UP! set called Best Day with my Stampin’ Blends markers.. then couldn’t decide if the kitty should be die cut with a circle or a square!?
I am pretty sure it was a split-decision between the 2 shapes, but in the end I went with the circle as I thought it really accentuated the “roundness” of this cute kitty!!!
I grabbed 2 patterns from the Sale-a-Bration paper pack called Dandy Designs (pg 14 of the 2023 Sale-a-Bration brochure) and used those on my square cards. The card bases are Thick Basic White cardstock 4-1/4″ square, so the designer paper is a 4″ square (maximizes the 12×12 size).

And because I always get asked this question when I make a square card… YES, I put it in the regular A2 Medium Stampin’ Up! envelope. A square envelope actually costs more to mail, so I just use the Medium Envelopes.
Isn’t she just the cutest round kitty ever? Sitting in her cupcake liner!!
The circle and banner die cut shapes are from the Stylish Shapes dies pack. In the card below I used the Scalloped Contour dies for the scalloped rectangle.

You may have noticed that I used the Happy Birthday stamp in 2 different ways on the 2 cards. The tip below will show you how to “change the shape” of your stamp from long and skinny to a vertical or “stacked” layout without cutting the stamp apart. Just use the omitting technique and ink happy, stamp, then clean. Then ink birthday, stamp and clean.
To embellish my 2 square “Best Day” birthday cards, I used the new pastel sequins #160387, and the Pool Party ribbon #160430. They are both in the new 2023 January Stampin’ UP! catalog. Don’t have a demonstrator? Need a catalog? Catalog info here!

Sweet cards! The colors are perfect together and I agree, the circle accentuates the shape of the cat. Great cards, and that paper pack looks amazing!
wonderful looking cats, waiting for anything cat fun they can do.
I am not a cat lover but you made these look so adorable. I am also allergic to them. But, you are making these cool cats very inviting and love that paper pack. I saw it in the catalog but wasn’t too excited. You are such an enabler! I think the circle accentuates the shape of the cat too. Too much fun. Love your coloring. Thank you for all your fun and inspiring videos. Have a great new year,
Can’t stand cats, but other cute animals would be great.
I don’t like cats but they are cute cards for cat lovers.
Love this kitty in the cupcake paper. Quick question, what colors did you use for the cat on each card?
So cute!
