Technique Class #4: Watercolor Pencil Blending

Watercolor Pencil Blending Technique with Stampin' Blends color lifter. Card and video by Patty Bennett

Yes, it’s Friday, you might be looking for my weekly live video, but I have family commitments today so I have recorded a video for you!  After sharing photos on Facebook and Instagram of my Petal Park flowers colored with Watercolor Pencils, I had so many requests for a video I thought I better hop on that!

Today we have Part 4 in our Stampin’ Technique series: Blending Watercolor Pencils with a Stampin’ Blend Color Lifter!!

Free Video & Technique Sheet Below in this post!

As shown in the video below, this technique is as simple as adding just a bit of color with the Watercolor pencil toward the center of the flower and pulling the color toward the tip with the Color Lifter! I mentioned in the video that it’s similar to using a Blender Pen, but, the Color Lifter feels much gentler on the paper and doesn’t cause it to pill up like the Blender Pen! yay!

Before and After coloring the Petal Park flower stamps with watercolor pencils and blending with the Color Lifter!

After stamping and coloring the flowers, flip your Petal Park punch upside down and punch out the flowers and leaves… soooo pretty!  Add them to your cards or papercrafting projects as shown in the video!

  2. Wow!!! When I attended my very first SU! demonstration over 22 years ago, I purchased a set of colored pencils and a blender pen. What a revelation-no pilling, and I had just recently purchased the color uplifter and hadn’t used it yet. I have been watching your blog almost since you started it 15 years ago, and even that was revolutionary at the time! Thank you for these throw back video lessons, like rock n roll, which was one of the first things I learned. You are reminding us about the techniques that we seemed to have lost in the modern world of die cutting. Thank you for taking the time, guiding us back to older methods of stamping with new ideas thrown in, keeping us in the loop!
