Please enjoy my bonus video today.. I’m sharing how to emboss with the Sunrise Sailing bundle to make quick and easy backgrounds for handmade cards.

The secret is Two Tone Pool Party cardstock, a sanding block, and a little ink blending!!

A hand holds a clear "Sunrise Sailing" embossing folder with a sailboat and clouds design. In the background are several light blue embossed sailing-themed cards, one reading "You're destined for great things." The surface has a grid and "Patty Bennett" watermark. In the video, I have explained that you can buy just the stamp set, or the hybird embossing folder with the dies, or all 3 products in the Sunrise Sailing bundle. Enjoy 10% off when you buy the bundle.

A hand holds a teal embossed greeting card featuring a sailboat on water with clouds in the sky. A white circle in the top right reads, "You're destined for great things." The card is displayed against a blurred background. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

Step by Step:

  • Use Pool Party Two Tone cardstock and emboss with the Sunrise Sailing bundle
  • Sand with a sanding block
  • Stamp with stamp set images & add ink blending to the water
  • Add Wink of Stella, greeting and mount to card base
Four teal cardstock panels with embossed sailboats and clouds show different craft stages: top left is freshly embossed, top right is sanded to reveal white details, bottom left has added ink and stamping, bottom right is sanded again and decorated with a greeting and embellishments. I really liked adding this stamp image in Lost Lagoon on the water. I think I forgot to show that on the video.

A hand holds a clear acrylic stamp above a blue-green card with embossed sailboats and water. Text reads, “stamp this image over the water for definition.” Two cards are shown: “Before” has plain water; “After” has darker, defined stamped water. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

Alternate Sailboat design

I loved die cutting the sailboat using the dies and embossing folder, then adding some stamping in Poppy Parade and Secret Sea.

Two handmade greeting cards with a sailboat design feature red-sailed boats on teal water, embossed clouds, and twine tied along the left edge. A spool of red-and-white baker's twine is nearby on a wooden plank surface. "PattyStamps.com" is stamped on one card. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

I combined Linen Thread and Red & White bakers twine for a bit of a nautical look.

Handmade nautical card with a red-and-white sailboat on textured aqua water and sky, accented with twine. Embossed birds and clouds in the background. Text in a white box reads: “Color Combo: Pool Party, Lost Lagoon, Poppy Parade, Secret Sea.” Stamp pads shown. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

  2. Love that pop of Poppy parade on the sail! Actually love them both, but you are correct that the red adds a little bit of “Wow!” to the card. Thanks for demo-ing the 3D combo embossing folder – I haven’t seen that done before and am glad to see it before trying it. 🙂
