Dollar Tree Crafting Project

I saw these fun boxes that look like books at the Dollar Tree a couple weeks ago and grabbed a few of them. Then last week, when I was playing with the “book” paper (in the Stampin’ UP! Hobby Haven pack) during my live video, I was thinking ahead to making this fun project!

Covering the book box is so easy.. just measure the size of the front, back and spine, and cut your paper! I used 12×12 Pool Party for the full cover, then added the layers.

I cut Stampin’ Up! 12×12 Two Tone Pool Party paper and Cajun Craze cardstock to cover the book box, then decorated it with the new Hobby Haven paper coming on Nov. 3 to customers!

I often find such great, inexpensive items for my Dollar Tree crafting projects.. even when I’m not looking for them!

I knew I wanted to fill it with Halloween candy, so I added ephemera pieces from the Spooky Sweet paper pack.

These boxes come in many sizes so I just measured mine and cut paper to cover it. I distressed the edges of the Pool Party 12×12 Two Tone cardstock with some Lost Lagoon ink on a Sponge Dauber.

I inked the new Lasting Linen background stamp with a Pecan Pie ink spot and added ink to my Cajun Craze “book spine”. (above). Then I added ink on the edges with a Blending Brush and more Pecan Pie ink to distress it a bit.
