Celebrating America's 250th!

I still vividly remember the 200th “birthday” of our country… I was in a plane flying home to the US from vacation in Europe… and we were trying to see fireworks from the airplane window! Now here we are 50 years later… celebrating America’s 250th!! wow!!!

A handmade slimline card features three Adirondack chairs colored red, white, and blue, with "Let's celebrate" text. Red polka dots and blue stars decorate the background. When I was making cards with the Adirondack chairs from the Relaxing Waterside bundle (see this post & video), I kept creating more cards and decided upon a Red, White & Blue theme for this slimline card! The fun polka dot paper is from the Brights Painted Patterns paper pack (Real Red).

I stamped and die cut the chairs from the woodgrain paper in the Paper Pumpkin Lakeside Retreat kit (currently sold out). You could also use any woodgrain patterned paper or stamp for a background to give the chairs a woodgrain feel. I’d recommend Country Woods.

After stamping the chairs, I shaded them with Stampin’ Blends markers and a little more intense shading with watercolor pencils (without water).

A handmade card features three blue-striped star shapes along the bottom. Beside the card is a black star-shaped paper punch with a star cutout. I used the Sweetest Star punch (on SALE!) and the striped paper from Everyday Essentials to add a little fun to the inside of my slimline card.
