Chipboard “Patchwork” Ornaments

I just loved this "Patchwork" idea from my friend Renee… I covered the chipboard ornaments (or coasters) with one piece of Stampin' Up! DSP, then cut other patterns into 1" squares and applied them in a checkerboard pattern.  Trim off the excess that is hanging over the edge of the circle, add some ribbon for a hanger and voila, you are done!

(Left: the chipboard ornament was first covered with the red striped paper.. the other 1" sq papers were added)

(Right: the coaster was first covered with the red/brown polkadot paper, then the other 1" squares were added)

You can either use the Tombow Glue that comes in the Country Living Promotion kit, or you can use the Stampin' Up! Anywhere Glue Stick to adhere the paper to the chipboard.  Both work wonderfully!

I used the Stampin' Up! white gel pen to make stitch marks to make them look more like patchwork material.  They are embellished with chipboard stars and Felt Flurry snowflakes.

  1. Hi, Patti–
Very pretty! What did you use to adhere that bottom paper to the chipboard? I always use sticky strip but wondered if you used something different.
