I just had to laugh the other day (or else I would have cried)…. I waited in line at the Post Office for 40 minutes because the lady at the counter was paying for her transaction with a bag of 982 Pennies!!!! I am not kidding!! No, they were not in rolls.. they were in a bag much like the one in this photo (except it was a Macy's bag)… and trust me, the P.O. employee was NOT thrilled. He counted them EVER so s-l-o-w-l-y to make a point of the fact that paying for your transaction with 982 pennies was NOT a wonderful thing to do with a line of people out the door!!
I almost ran up there and paid for her transaction with a $10 bill, but I didn't, because I did NOT WANT her bag of 982 pennies in exchange and I didn't have enough cash for her transaction plus mine!! …. oh well… it was entertaining and gave everyone in line something to talk about!
OK, now back to your regularly scheduled program…
Patty
That is TOO funny! Man, that is scrounging!
Geez….she could have stopped by the bank first couldn’t she? LOL
ROFL!!!!!!! Oh Patty..I feel for you having to wait in line behind that. I would have had a total melt down, head spinning around numerous times and when i just couldn’t take it anymore I’d of thrown the $10 down and told her to keep the pennies. Take care!!! Pam
yikes. That is just soooooo rude!
You have got to be kidding.
When it was your turn, did you ask for your change…in pennies? 😀
oh my….pennies are a nightmare!
But thanks for the laugh!
This simiiar incident has happened to me….nothng can be done about it, but I was thinking “is that what I’ll be like in a few yr.???”
(YUCK!!!)One day at a time, right?
All I can say is…. Be grateful she didn’t try that Christmas time. :o) There might have been a lynching mb instead of a chatty line of people behind her. LOL
(If only banks and other places didn’t charge you to exchange pennies for higher value currency. I wonder how long that lady has carried that bag around with her to pay for things so she doesn’t lose money on the deal?)
Hi,
I am sooo very surprised they did’nt tell her they couldn’t take all those pennies and she would have to come back with some dollars.
My own bank won’t even take change sometimes when I am making a deposit. They don’t want to be bothered counting the change. I figure if any place a bank would take any kind of money, but mine doesn’t NOT like change even in small amounts.
LOL…that is hilarious…good thing you have a sense of humor! I’m always amazed at how long I have to wait at the post office…it’s always tense in there too…so weird. Great story.
Oh my gosh… Sure puts things in perspective when you get annoyed at someone looking in her purse to get the exact change. At least, it’s not the exact amount IN change! Oh boy…
Cindy
omigosh!!!! That would be so frustraing!! But hilarious in the re-telling of the story! Apparently, that lady had not considered that she could have just deposited the pennies in her bank account??? Oh well, some day I shall wear purple and pay for my transactions in all pennies…NOT! I may get old (older?) but the pennies and purple dresses with red hats are totally out of the question! 😉 Jan Hoyt http://www.inkerzaway.blogspot.com
One day after postage rates had changed, I stood behind a man buying 1,000 1-cent stamps. I nearly stroked . . . going postal no longer refers to the workers; it refers to the customers!!! Now I buy my stamps at the grocery store! Crisis averted!!
My rolls and piles of coins! Great for those penny collectors, they’re back in circulation!
