Celebrating a milestone birthday with a special card

It's so very fun to celebrate milestones, and especially special birthday milestones!

A long time family friend recently celebrated his 70th birthday (even though he doesn't seem a day over 60), and so I made him this card.  In our family, we have a tradition that my hubby is in charge of the funny/humorous/silly cards, and I'm in charge of the handmade ones.  So.. sticking with tradition, Eric gave Scott a funny card and I made this one 🙂

The new Stampin' Up! Number of Years stamp set and Large Numbers Framelits are literally flying off the shelf at Stampin' Up!, and I'm excited to see how popular they are!  I used the number framelits to die cut "70" with Daffodil Delight cardstock in the Big Shot for this birthday card.  I also die cut banners with the Banner Framlits and 2 different papers:

  • Color me Irresistible paper (pg 142 in the annual catalog)
  • Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper (pg 149 annual catalog)

I layered the banners onto a Sunburst die cut and then onto the card.  The Sunburst die is new! Did you see it on pg 25 of the Occasions catalog?

Don't overlook this fun Color Me Irresistible paper… 1/2 sheets in the pack are already colored, and 1/2 are white on white.. see how I colored it HERE for these cards.

Other elements in this card:

  • Sunburst is die cut out of the Perfectly Artistic paper from pg 19 in the Sale a Bration catalog (ONLY available until Feb. 15, 2016!)
  • Stars are punched from the Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper
  • Banner is die cut from the Large Numbers framelits
  • Happy Birthday greeting is stamped in Archival Black ink onto the banner, and is from the Balloon Celebrations stamp set (pg 12 Occasions catalog)
  • I used several Stampin' Dimensional layers on this card to make it really fun and special!

Isn't it fun to recognize lots of different milestones?  Here are a few I'm thinking of that would be ideal with the Numbers framelits:

  • birthday
  • anniversary
  • special date
  • wedding date
  • house number
  • grade in school
  • graduation year

  1. Hi Patty,
This card is so bright and sunny. With three feet of snow surrounding me, and still snowing, this was just like a huge showing of sunshine. I needed that! The recipient is so lucky to have you and your husband as card designers. I know he will love it. Thank you for sharing the sunshine.
    Best wishes,
    Karren
