I am excited to share a VIDEO TUTORIAL with you today so that you can easily and quickly create several hand crafted cards with either a 3-1/2" x 5" Stampin' UP! note card, or a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" standard size card, using this diagonal slash technique!
Create these great note cards with EITHER a 6×6 paper stack and Stampin' Up! Note Cards, or, a 12×12 sheet of designer paper and a regular 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" card! Let me show you how!! Watch the video below and see the diagrams below for cutting dimensions.
I created a whole stack of these cards featuring the Pretty Petals 6×6 paper stack from Stampin Up!. You can create them with any 6×6 paper using the dimensions and instructions I've shared at the bottom of this post.
Watch the Video Below for more info, or, watch it HERE on YouTube.
Once you cut your paper and add it to your note card, it's loads of fun to go through your stamps and pick out a variety of greetings to fit in the space!! I did thank you, friends, you are amazing, happy birthday, and happy blooming birthday!
I also created quick and cute card embellishments using my Stampin' UP! Pansy punch, 7/8" scalloped circle punch and the 1/2" circle punch. I had fun punching out all different patterns of Stampin' Up! paper and creating fun and colorful card embellishments!
Below: Cutting instructions for using 6×6 paper and Stampin' Up! 3-1/2" x 5" Note Cards.
As shown in the video above in this blog post, I also created these cards using 12×12 designer paper and standard size 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" cards. For the cards below, I used the beautiful English Garden paper and Thick Whisper White or Blushing Bride folded cards.
Watch the video above in this blog post for more info on cutting your 12×12 paper, or use the instructions below. Create 9 cards out of each 12×12 piece of printed designer paper!!!! wow!

Thank you Patty! What a fun way to use up some retiring DSP and at the same time making enough for gifts and personal use. These are great cards.
Amazing blog posted.
Patty, this is pure genius! I have a ton of DSP and needed a design that was easy to mass produce for our local food pantry. Our pantry is so grateful as they send thank you’s to everyone who donates the least little thing. I’m so stoked to make a bunch of these for them (I include stamps as what good are donated cards if you can’t afford to mail them!)–THANK YOU!
Great tips, Patty! I have sooooo much DSP just waiting to be used, and this is a great way to do it. My SIL loves (and uses regularly) my note cards and I think she will love getting a set of these. Heading to my craft room with lots of ideas right now. Thanks for sharing.
Great technique and beautiful cards.
Thank you, Patty! I have a bunch of thank yous to send to volunteers from a 5K race over the weekend that I organized. These volunteers really made the race run perfectly and I think they would smile getting a pretty card like this!
I just finished watching your video and loved it!! What a great way to use up some old DSP paper and left over sheets of CS! Just in time for Mother’s Day! Thanks so much for a great video and idea!!!!
Patty, What a great idea, I love it!! I have so much DSP to use and now, I’ve got a great gift idea, for my teachers this year!!
Thanks
What a great idea – and thanks so much for the tutorial – easy to follow!!!!!
This Diagonal Slash layout is just SO CLEVER! I absolutely LOVE it! This Diagonal Slash layout will definitely be getting use in the near future! When I do CASE this and put it on my blog, I’ll be sure to give you credit and add a link back to your blog!
Thanks Patty for another great video. I have lots of DP paper and this is a great way for me to make lots of cards and use up some of my paper stash.
Patty…every idea is better than the one before (which explains why I keep ordering the exact materials you use). Keep up the good work! Seeing new ideas is like getting a smile via email!
Thank you Patty for sharing such a wonderful card – easy for the beginner like me.
Hugs: Mal Lynch, Australia
Really fun idea! Going to try it.
Another duh moment on my part – why didn’t I think of doing that before? Your videos are so good and show us exactly what to do and then little variations. I have a bunch of 6×6 pads just sitting there as well as 12×12 sheets. I loved Julie Rae’s card idea….maybe I can volunteer at our food pantry plus make cards for the donors. I am sure there are some other ideas like that I can work on. There are embelishments like the feathers in the Paper Pumpkin kits that I never used – maybe that can be in place of a flower. Thanks for showing us the way!
Hi Patty,
I just watched your video. The idea is just so wonderful, and it really causes a lot of cards out of a little bit of material. It is the perfect way to use extra DSP. You have such a soft, lovely voice, and the best way of teaching of anyone I have watched. Thank you for sharing your great ideas!! Have a great week ahead.
Best wishes,
Karren
Thanks Patty for another great idea for quick cards, I would never have thought of this….I have so many of the 6 x 6 paper stack, now I know how to use them up before they retire….!!!
Thanks for sharing.
Jan 🙂
Good morning Patty,,,,, LOVE, LOVE,LOVE your video. I have soooo much DSP and this is a great way to use it up. Wow, all those cards from one sheet of paper. I’m going to do this with a lot of my paper. Great way to mass produce. I’m always looking for quick cards to make. This is PERFECT. Thank you so much for sharing and have a great day.
What a terrific design – love the cards that are simple and easy but deliver loads of “punch”. They make the prettiest cards in my opinion!
And I agree with others who have said the same thing – your videos are so pleasant and easy to follow. Thanks for sharing!
Patty, I love your card design–tried it today and it is a great card to mass produce. I am going to do card sets of Thank you, Happy Birthday, etc. Thank you so much for sharing and always look forward to your new videos. Thanks!!!
So COOL. Great for beginners…and anyone else! TFS.

Thanks for your help in finding the comments section! I love your diagonal slash cards…..they are especially pretty with the Pretty Petals DSP. This DSP is beautiful but I still like the English Garden DSP prints the best. SU has the best DSP! Congrats on your recent awards…..love following you, Bobbie Flatland, Michigan
Hi Patty,
