We created these together one day after seeing Stampin' Up! Co-founder, Shelli Gardner demonstrate this technique idea at a recent Stampin' Up! OnStage event. She used the new Watercolor Pencils for the background. We used the watercolor pencils on 3 of the cards above and used a different watercolor background technique on the other 3 cards.
I mounted my watercolor paper onto a top fold Peekaboo Peach card, and then tied the new Sweet Sugarplum 3/8" ribbon around the card. Even though this card is striking and somewhat bold, it's also very soft and soothing! The die cut dragonfly piece is adhered with about 5 glue dots. Really easy to attach to the card! I speckled the card by flicking some Gold Wink of Stella onto the finished card.
Today I'm sharing the watercolor pencil background technique with you and will share the other background technique with you soon!
As you can see by the "how to" watercolor background tutorial above, it's really pretty easy. Color the watercolor pencils onto your watercolor paper, wash over the color with an AquaPainter or wet paint brush and let dry!!! wow!!!
You can really see the pretty Gold Wink of Stella dots on this photo above.. such a neat addition to most any card!
When the card is totally dry, stamp the greeting using the Stampin' Up! Basic Black Archival ink pad.
