I am super excited to share this gorgeous Christmas / Holiday card idea with you today, featuring the Stampin' Up! Hearts Come Home bundle (Hometown Greetings Framelits – pg 39 of the 2017 Stampin' UP! Holiday Catalog) and Swirly Snowflake thinlits, pg 35. I have some fun tips for you including how to make embossing paste "snow" and an idea for making the windows look like stained glass!
I created this card one day when stamping with Cindee, and I know we saw the basic idea somewhere and I can't remember who originated this card idea.. but we did add a few twists of our own like the large snowflakes in the sky, the colors behind the houses, and the "stained glass" in the church. We die cut the buildings using the Hearts Come Home framelit dies and Whisper White paper, then added "embossing past snow". Read on for all the tips and details.
Tip #1: Sponge the Dapper Denim card base with more Dapper Denim ink to give it some night sky drama!
Tip #2: Die cut the Swirly Snowflake thinlits and then cut the snowflakes apart and place them on the card for high contrast in the deep blue night sky.

Tip #3: to create beautiful textured, glittery snow, sponge light blue ink on your cardstock first (we used Pool Party) then mix a little Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the Embossing paste, then trowel it on with the Palette knife!! So pretty!
Tip #4: I wanted the church to look like it had stained glass windows, so, I searched for a small colorful patterned paper and discovered that the small leaf pattern in the Painted Autumn package was perfect!! Then, we needed to have colored windows in all the houses, so we cut up little scraps of cardstock as shown below and glued them behind each house!! I love it! REMINDER!! Buy 3 – Get 1 FREE offer is valid all month (Oct. 2017) so you can take advantage of this special offer when ordering your Painted Autumn paper!

Thank you for sharing this GORGEOUS card. Have a wonderful weekend and I hope you had a BLAST on your cruise.
Wow, what a fun card Patty! I love the tip about using the printed DSP to mimic stained glass, that is a great idea. The paste adds a lot of great texture as the snow – I can’t wait to try that tip! I have the hearts come home bundle on my wishlist, and will probably be ordering it next week.
Love the card. The stained glass effect is lovely on the church.
Such a stunning card. A lot of love and work went into the making of this beauty. Thanks for the tutorial. You are so talented.
