Now that the Amazingly popular Butterfly Duet punch is back in stock, I wanted to share a lovely Rainbow Butterfly card I created at and all day Stampin’ UP! crafting retreat in February!
Kurstan hosted the retreat and taught us now to create a rainbow background to punch the butterfly duet punch pieces from!! SO COOL!
We simply used a clear envelope for our watercolor palette, but you can use a clear block, a plastic lid or a real palette. We dropped drops of 7 different reinkers onto the plastic. Wet your strip of watercolor paper, then use an Aqua Painter to pick up the 7 colors and paint stripes of color in a rainbow pattern onto the wet watercolor paper. Be sure to allow the adjoining colors to mix a bit for gorgeous combinations of color.
After the watercolor paper is thoroughly dry, use the Butterfly Duet punch to punch out several butterflies. Each one will be unique and different. Arrange them onto your card as desired, popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals. We created a 4-1/4″ square card with Thick Whisper White cardstock.
Our crafting retreat day was awesome.. about 12 hours of stamping, visiting, crafting, eating, making new friends and learning new tips and techniques! Click here for info on Kurstan’s next San Francisco Bay Area all day retreat.
I used Wink of Stella on each butterfly to make them shimmery.. probably difficult to see in the photo, but so pretty in person!! The little floral Gingham Gala flower sequins also add a sweet touch of shimmer to the card!! The polkadot pattern is from the (now retired) Sale-a-Bration Botanical Butterfly paper, but you could use any background paper you have on hand if you are out of the Botanical Butterfly paper. I Just Adore you is stamped in black on a die cut circle, and is found in the Incredible Like You stamp set #148708
