Oh I LOVE this Fun Fold Card idea!! I had never seen this fold before until I attended a 4 day retreat in So. California in February. Amy Combs hosted the retreat and this fun fold card pattern was my favorite card idea!
The great thing is, it basically uses up 1/2 a sheet of 12×12 DSP (Designer Series Paper) with minimal cutting and just 3 score lines, AND showcases both sides.. I think that’s the best part! There are 4 different ways you can make this card. I’ll be highlighting them in my Facebook Live today at 10am PT. Join me on my business page for that!
I have created 4 different types of cards from one Fun Fold Pattern. They all feature the brand new Ornate Garden Suite – available April 1st to all customers!!! click to download info about the Ornate Garden Suite!

Watch my Facebook Live video HERE to see how easy this card design is to make, and how to make 4 different cards from this one fold!
Or Watch it on YouTube below:
Fun Fold Type 1:
Vertical card design with center fold of the Designer paper sealed shut.
Supplies: Ornate Garden designer paper with Ornate Style and Ornate Thanks stamp sets. Stitched so Sweetly and Rectangle stitched dies. Card base is Mint Macaron. Stitched Rectangle is Flirty Flamingo.
Tip!! I added a Pearlized Doily to my card but sponged the matte side of it with Calypso Coral ink for a pop of color to match the die cut flowers!
Fun Fold Type 2:
Vertical card design with DSP accordion folded and not sealed shut on any of the folds. It’s mounted on a Crushed Curry cardstock panel.
This card design allows the recipient to see all of the pattern on both sides of the Ornate Garden paper. The card will fold out completely flat to expose all of the panels.
Supplies: I decorated the front with a piece of the Ornate Border dies and a sentiment from the Rare Blessings set stamped on a Stitched Nested dies die cut. The stitched rectangle die on the back panel is perfect for writing your greeting, and it’s found in the Nature’s Thoughts Dies (limited time offer).
Fun Fold Type 3:
Vertical card design with all of the folds of the Designer paper sealed shut. (It basically opens like a regular card). I LOVE how this card turned out!!
Supplies: I used a border die from the Ornate Borders set to decorate the front panel. I tied the front panels together with Old Olive ribbon from the Ornate Garden Ribbon Combo Pack, and put a die cut piece from the Ornate Layers dies inside to write on. It’s all mounted on a piece of Old Olive Cardstock. Do you love it!??
Fun Fold Type 4:
Horizontal Gift Card Holder card design with all of the folds of the Designer paper sealed shut on the sides, creating 2 pockets.
If you flip the card horizontally, and seal up the sides, you can create 2 pockets!! I made a Gift Card Holder this way!!
Supplies: It’s mounted on a Mint Macaron card base panel. The focal image is from the Tags in Bloom Sale-a-Bration set, a free gift selection with your $100 order through 3-31-20. The stitched rectangle die in the back pocket is perfect for writing your greeting, and it’s found in the Nature’s Thoughts Dies (limited time offer).

Love the cards. Thanks for the video. What are you using to stand the cards up for three pictures. The Green holder?
Connie.. it’s called a Frog. It’s used in flower arranging.
Hi Patty, I just love this fun fold and all the possibilities. A great way to use up retired or almost retired patterned papers. Thank you so much for this tutorial. My question is, what is this fun fold actually called? Thanks
I wish I knew what it was called.. we weren’t given any instructions at our event, so I don’t know if Amy had a name for it.
Patty, you are very generous with your downloads and I have printed each of them. Love this design and all the supplies you used. I have so much of Stampin Up’s designer paper that I can’t buy more, but will try these with what I have. May buy some of the dies when April come. Thank you again.
So glad you are enjoying the ideas!! thank you for your kind words!
thank you for sharing the PDF
You are most welcome!
ThNk you for your wonderful directions on making fold cards and the sizing w/ photos of completed cards. I am a new demonstrator in CA though I have been paper crafting for 15 years . Congratulation on 25 years.
I will come back and visit you from time to time. Because I am unorthodox in how I do my classes , I would not be a benefit to your team. Also I will give credit where it is due. .
Hi Patty,, Great Card… I saw it on Pinterest and there was another tag on the 2nd panel… But you couldn’t see it when the card is closed…
Thanks so much for the video….

I love this suite and all the beautiful cards you’ve made with it. Thanks for the tips on how to use it. I find that sometimes these big suites with so many pieces are a little overwhelming, but the way you showed them makes them all fall into place. Enjoy your day!
Is the card magnolia card done the same way?
Thnks,
Zelda
Yes, I think I linked to this post from the Magnolia card post.
hi patty. I have the new Quite curvy stamp set and dies.have you heard of the Christmas curvy stamps and dies? if so where could I get a set? thank you so much. bonnie olive
HI Bonnie, the Christmas set, dies and paper to go with the Quite Curvy bundle were offered last fall. I had them on my blog, store, YouTube videos and newsletter for a few months. It was a limited time offer and is no longer available. Sorry. Here is more info from last fall, but again, they are no longer available. https://pattystamps.com/2020/11/quite-curvy-variety-bundle.html
Three years later—-I still love this fun fold the most. Thank you Patty
I am always looking for fun folds, but come back to this one over & over again.
So glad you are still using this design! It’s similar to the 2 4 6 8 cards I’ve been doing this year. Love them both!
