I made this super fun Taco Punch Art card for our son Jason. He recently celebrated his 5th anniversary working at a structural engineering firm and I thought it would be fun to give him a card and remind him that he’s super awesome!! (and he loves Mexican food… so… perfect match!)
I used the Stampin’ UP! Witty-Cisms stamp set and the Label me Fancy and Label me Lovely punches for the Taco ’bout Awesome greeting. It’s stamped with Memento black ink, colored with Stampin’ Blends markers, and layered onto a Real Red Label me Lovely punched piece with a strip of Early Espresso cardstock on top. I tied it with some White Crinkled Seam binding ribbon that I colored with my Old Olive Stampin’ Blends marker.
Taco Punch Art Supplies:
- taco shell: Crumb Cake cardstock die cut with largest circle in the Layering Circles dies #151770, splattered with ink from my Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends marker
- lettuce and tomatoes: Sprig Punch #148012 with Granny Apple Green and Real Red cardstock
- cheese: medium daisy punch #149517 with Daffodil Delight cardstock
- meat: retired strawberry punch (sorry it’s retired… you could use scraps, fussy cut or try the little tulip in the Vase Builder punch) with Early Epresso cardstock
Idea for using sprig punch goes to Allison Okamitsu!
The card is an Old Olive Scalloped Note card with a strip of designer paper from the Best Dressed paper stack.
If I were truly making this taco the way Jason would eat his taco, it would only have meat and cheese.. maybe some sour cream… but it’s more colorful with the Granny Apple Green lettuce and the Real Red tomatoes, so I created it with all those fun colors.
Add adhesive to the inside of the “taco shell” and tuck the lettuce, tomato, cheese and meat into the shell. I added some Stampin’ Dimensionals inside to help give it some volume.
