A year ago… yep, a whole year ago, I made this amazing Butterfly Beauty card with the Shimmery White Embossing Paste background! This is a super fun and easy technique that you can recreate whether you are making cards at home, or teaching this to friends or at an event! Kurstan taught us how to create this fun background at one of her amazing events!
Mix the Shimmery White Embossing Paste:
An easy way to achieve several colors (if desired) is to use small snack size zip bags (the Dollar Store is a great place to find these at a reasonable price).
- Use your Palette Knife to scoop out some Shimmery White Embossing Paste from the container, smoosh it into the baggie
- Drip some reinker (ink refill) drops into the bag with desired color
- SEAL SHUT, and knead with your fingers to mix the color
- Scoop colored embossing paste out of the baggie and spread onto your project!
At the time we made this, the Purple Posy ink was available for purchase (it has since been discontinued). So we used Purple Posy, Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape ink refills. See ALL Ink Refill colors available HERE.
When the embossing paste background is dry, you can adhere it to your card base, and decorate the front. We used the Butterfly Beauty Dies to decorate this simple yet gorgeous handmade card!
The Shimmery White Embossing Paste panel was adhered to Basic Black cardstock and then a Purple Posy base card. Hi, friend is a stamp in the Above the Clouds stamp set.

What a beautiful card, Patty. I love this technique. I have some embossing paste but rarely think about using it. Thanks for the inspiration. Enjoy your day!
These are beautiful Patty!!
I buy embossing paste for a project and then it dries up before I want it again.
I think you can rejuvenate it with some water, seal it up, then stir.. have you tried that?
