I hope you have been enjoying the Prized Peony projects I’ve been sharing this week!! All of the projects were inspired by an online class I participated in, created by Leticia and Christy. For this project, I sealed one flap down and made it a gift card holder, but you could leave both flaps loose and it can be a gate fold card!
Using Merry Merlot cardstock and Merry Merlot ink on the Peony was something different for me and I loved the color!! So rich and gorgeous! Wouldn’t this be beautiful for Christmastime!?
The measurements for this card, provided by Leticia and Christy are:
Base Card: Merry Merlot, 5-1/2″ x 7-3/4″, scored at 1-3/4″ and 6″.
Gray Granite: 5-1/4″ x 1-1/2″, sponged with Champagne Shimmer Paint first, then embossed with the Wrapped in Texture embossing folder
Floral print: 5-1/4″ x 1-1/2″ Peony Garden designer paper
To create the pocket for the gift card, simply use Tear & Tape to seal down the sides of the bottom flap, with the embossed cardstock!
Above: I stamped the peony flowers with Merry Merlot ink on Whisper White cardstock, then added ink with my sponge dauber. The leaves are stamped with Shaded Spruce ink on Whisper White cardstock. All flowers and leaves are die cut with the Peony dies in the Prized Peony bundle. 2 of the flowers are attached with Stampin’ Seal on a Scalloped Square with a Vellum Doily on top. The 3rd flower is attached to the bottom pocket part of the card. The stamped leaves are tucked in under the flowers.
For just a bit of variety in color, I sponged just a touch of Petal Pink ink on the flowers as well.
Above: a simple yet striking 3D peony flower card again featuring Merry Merlot cardstock.
3D Peony Card Tips:
- Sponge Gray Granite ink on the Vellum Doily so that it stands out on the Peony Garden designer paper
- Use the “marble” looking pattern from the Peony Garden designer paper pack to die cut the 4 layers of the peony. It gives the flower just a touch of shadows and depth. (the pattern is the same one behind the card in the photo).

Stamp Merry Merlot peony flowers on the Merry Merlot cardstock base. Add a stamped tag from the Stitched Nested dies and a small Silver Edge ribbon bow to finish the card.
