Brilliant Wings butterfly dies from Stampin' UP!. Die cut with watercolor paper and paint with reinkers. Birthday card idea by Patty Bennett

Welcome! If you have found me from my YouTube video, welcome!  I’m so glad you are here!  If you are a regular blog viewer, I thank you for joining me today, too!!  I am very excited about this super easy watercoloring technique and I hope you will give it a try!!  I’ve watercolored the Brilliant Wings butterfly dies, and created this lovely birthday card with them!!

The background of my card is stamped with some leaves from the Splendid Day set.

Like I mentioned in the video, this is a 50th birthday card for my friend Tammy. I gave her the card last week at her birthday lunch!

You can experiment with ANY colors you like.. I’d suggest 2, 3 or 4 colors of reinkers for your color, and don’t forget that important wash of water over your butterfly FIRST before you add color, if you want it to spread and blend!!  It’s like Magic!!!!

Ink and stamp Happy Birthday separately or together to achieve a different look. Go To Greetings from Stampin UP!

Above:  Here is a fun tip for you .. when you want to use a greeting, but it just doesn’t fit where you need it to go, try inking parts of it separately to alter the actual shape or layout of the greeting! Can you see above where the Happy Birthday stamp is about 2-1/4″ long or so… but I needed it to be shorter.. so I inked Happy, and stamped that, then inked Birthday and stamped it underneath!! 🙂 yay!!

Final tip:  I colored the Glittered Organdy ribbon with my Tahitian Tide Stampin’ Blend marker so it would match the card, then finished off the card with the Fine Sparkle Gems.
