If you joined me last week on my weekly live video, you know I LOVE creating these gorgeous, one of a kind watercolor wash backgrounds for my cards! I used the Stampin’ Up! Fluid Watercolor paper, ink pads, water and SALT!!!
I’ve linked the free video tutorials at the bottom of this post if you missed them.
After creating both the blue/green and the red/orange/yellow backgrounds, I immediately thought about all the left over Sweet Citrus fruit die cut pieces I had left from THESE CARDS, and I used them to make more cards!!
Above: I used Mango Melody and Pale Papaya ink for the background (see video link below) and these are the colors I used for the fruit pieces:
Below: the colors I used for the watercolor wash background: Tahitian Tide, Bermuda Bay, and Granny Apple Green.
The colors I used for the Limes:
The backgrounds before adding the die cut elements… they are so pretty on their own you could really just add a greeting and be done!
Layers:
- Base Cards (Parakeet Party & Pale Papaya): 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ folded in half
- White layer: 3-3/4″ x 5-1/4″
- Watercolor paper layer (1/2 sheet of Fluid watercolor paper): 3-1/2″ x 5″

These are gorgeous! I watched the replay and will be trying the technique. You made something that seemed overwhelming, doable.
Thank you so much for watching and for your kind comment!!!
So pretty Patty. You are amazing.
You are so kind, thank you Mary!!
Loved the water wash technique! I gave it a try and had tons of fun with it. Now I just need more watercolor paper!! I appreciate your monthly technique segments. And thank you for the color combo ideas in this newsletter – very helpful.
So happy you enjoy it all!! 🙂
Patty, I am not sure how much of a problem I have.
Placed a last minute order on 2-18 and picked ribbon as my free gift.
Called SU last week and they had no record of my order. Changed to a new credit card and reordered(without freebie)and also placed another order at the same time.. I have not received an email about either order which I usually receive them right away Now I am concerned that they do not have either of my orders. Should I just call them again or is there someone I need to speak with? Have you heard of this happening?
