Thanks to all of your suggestions when I asked you how you would use Basic Beige … there were 48 suggestions and I think the most popular suggestion was to use Basic Beige with “no line watercoloring”.. I thought that was brilliant!! Since I am really NOT good at no line watercoloring, I thought to adapt that to “no line stenciling”. That’s what I shared during my live video yesterday, and today we’ll check out more details.

Above: you can instantly see the difference between the Layers of Beauty image stamped in black vs. stamped in Basic Beige. The ink blending was exactly the same on both images, but the ink pad color makes a big difference.
Below: my 2 finished cards with the same focal point featuring the Layers of Beauty stamp, ink blended with Peach Pie, Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive. LEFT: die cut and mounted onto Basic White, RIGHT: die cut and mounted onto Basic Beige. (see tip below for coloring the white portions with the Ivory Stampin’ blends marker)

Below: again, notice the big difference between stamping the image in Black vs Basic Beige!! Amazing!
Ink Colors for Blending:
- Peach Pie
- Pumpkin Pie
- Old Olive
Stamping this image in Basic Beige, then adding the ink blending with blending brushes creates such a gorgeous soft look!
The card below really took me out of my comfort zone. But in the end, I love the soft look, the muted colors and different textures!
Ink Colors for Blending:
- Boho Blue
- Shy Shamrock
I also wanted to try the no line coloring look with the Basic Beige ink outline and blue ink blending. So I did the ink blending with Boho Blue and used Shy Shamrock for the leaves. The amazing paper in the background is the Thoughtful Designs paper from pg 47 of the new Stampin’ Up! catalog.

Thank you for sharing this Patty! I love watching you “color” 🥰. The Basic beige stamped image is so beautiful – it is very surprising how beautifully different it looks, after coloring. I didn’t think I needed basic beige”anything”… BUT now I do!
Stunning! Thank you for the inspiration to use this new SU color!
Thank you so much for watching and for your sweet comment, Barb!
Thanks for great idea. Cards also look great.
Thanks Rebecca!!
This bundle was not on my pre-order list, but you have made me want it! My second pre-order will go in this week and Layers of Beauty will be on it. You did such a nice job with the video and explaining everything. Thanks so much for sharing!
Thank you Patty for your video & these pictures. These cards are truly Beautiful!!! I just have one question, you said you used the SU Blend Ivory, to color all the white area around the flowers, could you stamp your flower image on Beige CS instead of white? Or did you stamp on white because you get true color with white. Maybe if you stamped & colored on Beige your colors would look a little muddy? These are just things I am wondering. Sorry for going on & on….. Thanks for your time, Tammie
I think it would be way too dark and muddy colored on the Beige.. but if you have a minute to try it out, let me know what you think.
How do you decide to use a small or large blending brush?
In general it depends on if it’s a large or small area. On this video, I did not yet have my 5 new large brushes for In Colors.. and since i had extra small ones.. I was using those for the In colors.
I’m curious – could you use the masks without stamping the outline at all? I do love the look of stamping with the basic beige vs. black ink. Thanks!
yes you can do it without the outline.. it’s a different look.
