Die Cutting & Coloring Tips for Magnolia Mood Flowers

Stampin' Up! Magnolia Mood book binding cards featuring Stampin' Blends markers and Thoughtful Designs designer paper, by Patty Bennett

I don’t often just craft on the fly with you, basically without a final plan in mind.. but that’s what happened yesterday during my weekly live video!! Thank you to everyone who stuck around for the full hour and encouraged me with your suggestions for finishing off the purple card, the poppy card and the yellow and blue card!!  As you can see above, I finished all the Magnolia Mood cards that were started on the video and I love them all so much!

The Stampin’ Up! Magnolia Mood bundle and dies are only sold online (called an Online Exclusive). They were so popular earlier this year they were sold out for a time but now they are back in stock!!   Magnolia Mood dies #163506 / Magnolia Mood Bundle #163507 or shop any of these products by clicking the product photo links at the bottom of this post.  Thank You SO Much for your online orders!

Each of my book binding cards today features a 4×4 square on the right and 1″ strip on the left (see dimensions below), and a die cut circle or 2 below the Magnolia Mood floral die cut piece. Each Magnolia flower is colored with a different combo of Stampin’ Blends markers.  Watch the video (replay above) to see how to color these – it’s super easy and you can use ANY of your favorite colors!!!

What do you think about this gorgeous combo with the embossed Berry Burst strip, and the addition of the Shy Shamrock Stampin’ Blends ink on the leaves!?  Oh my goodness, it turned out so pretty!!

I am seriously in love with how well this Thoughtful Designs paper coordinates with these cards!!  I posted about this paper a few days ago too (see those cards here).

Blue and Yellow: Stampin' Up! Magnolia Mood book binding card featuring Stampin' Blends markers and Thoughtful Designs designer paper, by Patty Bennett

This beautiful Peacock and yellow combo was another “craft on the fly” idea from the video crafting session.  By adding some Peacock blends to the leaves, and finishing it with the Peacock ribbon, it tied in all the colors.

I created several versions of this card, because the Flirty Flamingo combo is my favorite… adding Summer Splash and Shy Shamrock to the pink is AMAZING!

Die Cutting Tip!!

Looking for perfect clean cuts on your dies (like the one above)?   I hope you enjoyed the tip I shared during the video about using a dryer sheet!!

Finally, our last combo actually looks like a California Poppy and not a Magnolia… but as I said on the video.. it’s my own creative work of art and I can make it any color I wish 🙂  Pulling in the olive leaves with the olive Thoughtful Designs paper, and then adding the pops of Peach Pie cardstock and ribbon make this card a winner, too!

  3. Hi Patty! I’d watched the replay Saturday morn AND I STAYED TO THE END! :-)). SUCH FUN all throughout the video! The dryer sheet tip is invaluable as SU has so many more dies w/intricate areas that I LOVE but can be frustrating when pieces don’t always fall out or die didn’t cut through so YAY for the used dryer sheets! 🙂 I also love the Magnolia die piece w/color combos of the blends guides, too! Another WINNER tip! And Patty, it is relaxing for me to watch n’ listen as you color~~just pleasant enjoyment plus pretty creations! THANKS OODLES for all you do n’ your encouragements n’ sharing of your creativity! Sending lots of SMILES! :-)))))))

Your color shading combos for the magnolia die are the best I’ve seen. You did an excellent job on them. I’m hoping to apply your technique and improve my blends coloring. Thanks for sharing.
