Thank you so much to everyone who joined live yesterday to chat about watercoloring tips using Stampin’ Up! Watercolor pencils and the Nature’s Paintings kit. If you missed it, no worries.. the replay is below in this post. All supplies I’ve used are also available by clicking images at the bottom of the post.
For the series of 4 images I’m sharing today, you’ll notice that I pulled in more watercolor pencil colors than the selection in the kit. If you’ve followed me long, you know how much I love color. I needed more than the 8 colors that come in the kit (Berry Burst, Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Flirty Flamingo, Garden Green, Pumpkin Pie, Red). You’ll find the other colors I used in the 2 extra watercolor pencil packs available in the online store and linked below.

Peony Flower with Coral and Red & Tip!
Above: I loved coloring the Peony floral image in this kit. I started with Calypso Coral and added Red.. what a lovely image this is!! And a tip you may not have thought about… adding blue to the green to change the color!
Torch Ginger with and without background
Below: I love this Torch Ginger tropical flower image. I first saw these beautiful flowers years ago on a Caribbean Cruise. I kept adding layers of red and cobbler to create the light and dark contrast of the floral image. After I was done, I used the Balmy Blue and Pool Party Stampin’ Blends markers to add a background and shadow, and I used my Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker to color in the border.
Product Tips:
I love these narrow tip bottles for adding water to my Stampin’ Up! Water Painter.. and if you watched the video, you’ll see why you want to order 2 of them if you also use Wink of Stella!
And if you still have the old Stampin’ UP! watercolor pencil sharpener, please use that.. but if you are looking for a new one, I use this Prismacolor pencil sharpener.
8th of 12 Images in the Kit
For my purple/blue/pink lovers.. I tried out a fabulous color combo for this image with the berries and little bluebell looking flowers. I’m sure I took some coloring liberties but wanted to use lots of shades of pink, blue and purple.

Hi Patty,
Enjoyed the live on Black Friday showing tips on the new watercoloring kit. I was thrilled to hear the tip on refilling the wink of Stella to extend use. Do you use rubbing alcohol that is 90% to fill with?
Thanks,
Jolene Kent, Minnesota
Yes, that is my preference.
