This amazing Jolly Holly Hybrid Embossing Folder from Stampin’ Up! has been available for a few months, but I kind of set it aside for use “closer to Christmas”… but.. reality is setting in that it IS getting closer to Christmas and it’s time to start playing with Christmas card ideas!

Jolly Holly hybrid embossing folder Christmas card idea. A handmade holiday card features embossed light blue paper with holly leaves and red berries, a “Seasons Greetings” label in gold, and poinsettia-themed border and envelope. Card rests on a grid background with “Patty Bennett pattystamps.com” watermark. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

My completed card is a side fold card – dimensions below. The beautiful poinsettia pattern paper is from the Traditions of Christmas 12×12 pack #165853.

Seasons Greetings is an ephemera piece from the Greetings for You Mix & Match pack #166208. It’s layered onto a die cut label from the Traditional Labels bundle (I swirled just a touch of Pretty in Pink ink behind the words with a blending brush). I colored some white dots with my Real Red Stampin’ Blend marker, but you can also just use red embellishments for the holly berries.

Sidefold Card Dimensions:

  • Thick Basic White base: 4-1/4″ x 11″, trim off 1-1/4″. Score at 5-1/2″.
  • Cloud Cover Two Tone cardstock embossed holly piece: 4×4
  • Designer Paper strip: 1-1/4″ x 4″

A Hybrid Embossing folder means that you can emboss with it, you can die cut with it or you can emboss AND die cut the image!

Die-cutting and embossing tools are shown on a craft mat. One gray card shows embossed holly leaves and berries; another is partially cut with matching metal dies beside it. Text reads, "EMBOSS & DIE CUT OR JUST EMBOSS." Website “PATTYSTAMPS.com” is visible. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

The 4×4 piece of Cloud Cover Two Tone cardstock was embossed with the Jolly Holly hybrid embossing folder for the left side of the card front. An additional piece of Cloud Cover Two Tone cardstock was embossed & die cut on the lighter side, and I used snips to cut apart some of the partially die cut holly leaves.

This Jolly Holly Hybrid embossing folder is very versatile, as you can leave the partially die cut holly leaves as is, or snip them out as shown below for this Christmas Card.

A close-up of a crafting workspace shows scissors cutting through light blue paper embossed with holly leaves and berries. Underneath is floral-patterned paper. A cutting die and product packaging labeled "Patty Bennett" are also visible on the desk. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)
