One Valentine Card turned into 3 Designs!

Do you remember these Angled Gate Fold cards I shared with you a month ago?

Well, I made about 50 of them with my Stampin’ Up! Made with Love DSP, and so I had a TON of triangles and 1″ strips left over!

I just couldn’t let the extra triangles and 1″ strips go in the recycle bin… so, the leftovers from the Angled Gate Fold cards also allowed me to create really fun Triangle collage cards and some strip cards! They are all Valentine themed because I used the Made with Love and Love Notes paper packs.

But please do try this with any other paper you have (I also made them with floral designs here).

A collage shows three stages of handmade Valentine’s cards using red and pink patterned paper. Card 1 features angled gate fold cards with envelopes. Card 2 displays leftover paper triangles and strips. Card 3 shows three new card designs with hearts made from those leftovers. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

Card 1 – created left over triangles & strips

As I mentioned above the original card was the Angled Gate Fold Valentine Cardclick here for the post and video. After making dozens I had about 100 triangles left over.. they hung out on my craft desk for weeks, and I finally decided to try out a new design….. check out card design 2…

Card 2 – used the triangles

Card design 2 is what I’m calling a triangle collage card.. I have no clue if this actually has a name.. it’s just what I came up with using 4 triangles on a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ card front.

A handmade Valentine card with red, pink, and white patterned sections, featuring hearts and "XOXO" motifs. It is decorated with gold and pink hearts and a white label reading "HAPPY HEART DAY." A hand holds the card on a marble background. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

Each of my triangle collage cards is decorated with die cut hearts or pieces from the Love Notes 6×6 paper pack. All of these supplies are listed at the bottom of this post. Please click on the product photos to shop for Stampin’ Up! supplies online.

A craft table displays red and pink handmade cards decorated with heart and geometric patterned triangles. The triangles are arranged in various designs on the card fronts, with additional paper triangles and strips scattered nearby. Instructions are overlaid at the top. You can see above, I played with different configurations of the 4 triangles, then started gluing them to Real Red and Thick Basic White top fold card bases.

A hand holds a colorful Valentine's Day card decorated with layered paper hearts in red, white, pink, and gold patterns. The card features “HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY” in black letters on the gold heart. The background uses geometric and heart designs. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

If you didn’t start out with Angled Gate Fold cards, simply cut some 2-1/4″ x 4″ rectangles and cut them at a diagonal.. then mix and match your patterns.

I love to sort and organize my supplies while making multiple cards. This 3 section tray is fabulous!

Card 3 – used the strips

Using up the 1″ x 12″ strips from the Angled Gate Fold cards, I was able to make several card fronts for even more Valentine Cards!
