Pansy Patch flower cards with New In Colors

Pansy Patch birthday card idea featuring new Stampin' UP! In Colors and Butterflies & Flowers masks, by Patty Bennett

I was a little stumped about what to share with you this week during my weekly Facebook Live, so I had this idea, and I held up these 3 colors of New In Color Cardstock on Tuesday during my team weekly live video, and I asked them if they thought these 3 colors would look good with the Pansy Patch flower dies?  My Luv 2 Stamp Group gave me encouragement and said YES, try it.. so I did!!

I wanted to try Parakeet Party, Starry Sky and Orchid Oasis with the Pansies.  I also added Daffodil Delight.

If you missed the live video, be sure to catch up by watching the replay at the bottom of this post!

Rather than a plain background, I grabbed my Butterflies & Flowers masks, a Blending Brush and my Orchid Oasis ink and created a very soft background. I layered my scalloped contour die on top, then added the pansies. Of course I flicked Wink of Stella on the flowers for some glitz!

After putting together a couple of pansies, I discovered that adding some ink blending with Blending Brushes to the cardstock before assembling them gives them some added dimension.

Check out the difference on the 2 flowers below. LEFT & TOP:  with ink blending, RIGHT: without.

  2. I purchased this bundle when it first came out – I haven’t used it – looked too complicated. With your instructions – now I think I will try it!!! Thanks so much.

  4. Patty!! I have just spent a wonderful afternoon watching you create the two absolutely, wonderful cards from “Pansy Patch”. I am inspired and plan to purchase the stamp set (and other materials that I do not yet have in my “toy collection!”) I found your presentation informative and inspiring. Can’t wait to play with my new toys when they arrive at my home.

Thank you so much, Patty!! I look forward to returning to your website for more fun and inspiration. Sincerely, Jocelyn
