Organizing my Chipboard

I finally did it.. took the plunge… what better thing to do when you are trying to stay quiet and recover from a migraine!?  Organize your Chipboard shapes of course!

I popped all the On Board Chipboard images OUT of the 12×12 sheets:

and sorted them into containers:

then labeled them and put them on my shelf!

The BIG ADVANTAGE for me is that I know what I have now.. I really didn’t like looking through those packages trying to figure out if I had enough flowers or stars, etc., for a class or a swap… now I KNOW I have ENOUGH !!  LOL

I haven’t sorted the new On Board Blossoms packs yet… not sure if I will.  And I think I’ll leave all the alphabet chipboard sheets in their packs too.  Anyone have a good solution for organizing the alphabet pieces, other than A’s in a bag, B’s in a bag, etc. ?

  1. Hope that migraine has gone … nothing but nothing, is worse than a migraine!
To organize your chipboard alpha’s, what about using one of those clear hinged-lid boxes that they sell for storing embroidery floss bobbins? I use them for my embellishments and each box is by theme (Baby, Dog, Garden, Christmas, etc). You could stand the alpha letters up or lay them flat in each of the little compartments, by letter (A, B, C etc). I just picked up three more at Michael’s today ($1.99) and they each have 17 compartments.

  2. Great idea! I hate looking for a piece and half the pieces have fallen out of the board. Ugh! That is enough to give you a headache. I may have to do this too! Thanks for the tip!

  3. what did you do with the outside peices? They work great to use as templates for sponging or cut for shakers. hopefully, you saved them for later crafting or recycled them.

  4. Hey Patti:
Funny that you posted this ’cause I just organized my alphabet chipboard. I used photo boxes for storage and I made dividers using cardstock with the tab punch for labels. I used one of my alphabet sets to label the tab punches. I have A-Z of course and I even labels ones with Stars, ? marks, hearts and ambersands (&). It worked fabulously!!! So don’t be afraid of those letters. Go at ’em. And if you don’t mind, I am going to steal your other shapes organizing ideas. Thanks so much for the info.
