Stampin' Up! is amazing when it comes to stamp set artwork in their catalogs.. I am just amazed at every single creative stamp set, the matching/coordinating framelits or thinlits, punches, papers, and tons of accessories in the 2016 Occasions Catalog!!
And without exception, the BEAR HUGS stamp set is so creative and fun!! Who doesn't want a BEAR HUG for Valentine's Day!?
Don't you love my bear holding his Valentine, peeking out the window at us? I stamped him with Soft Suede ink on Very Vanilla cardstock then used my AquaPainter to lightly go over his fur and slightly blend the ink color. Cindee and I made this card together yesterday… we had so much fun! 🙂
This seriously adorable Bear Hugs stamp set and matching framelit dies are available as a bundle.. save 15% when you buy them together!! The Bundle is available in wood mount or clear mount.. see it on pg 40 of the 2016 Occasions catalog.
Yes, he is even sporting a red bow tie, just for Valentine's Day! The bow tie stamp and die are in the bundle!
Another die that I used in this card is the Hearth & Home window thinlit.. I die cut it out of the Color Me Irresistible paper with the woodgrain pattern.. too cute! I sponged some Soft Suede ink onto the paper and the woodgrain pattern resisted the ink for a cool effect! It's found on pg 142 in the Annual Catalog.
Coloring in all of the little flowers was quick and fun with the Stampin' Write markers. I used Calypso Coral, Real Red, Watermelon Wonder, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight and Cucumber Crush.. basically my "go to colors" right now!
I added some yellow enamel dots to the centers of some flowers for dimension. The dots are on pg 6 of the Occasions catalog in the It's My Party suite.
The window box is die cut from the Love Blossoms 6×6 Designer Series Paper pack and the Hearth & Home window frame die on my Big Shot.
The Color Me Irresistible paper package comes with 6 sheets that are already colored in the In Colors, like the Tip Top Taupe sheet here with the woodgrain embossed resist image, and it also comes with 6 White on White sheets.. so you can custom color those 6 sheets with any color using your Aqua Painter, Spritzer, Sponge, Dauber, Brayer… endless color possibilities!
When assembling your card, I found it easiest to put the die cut bear on the Whisper White cardstock that was going behind the Window Frame die cut, then trim the excess bear image away from the white rectangle. I layered a window sheet on top and then the window frame die so that in person it really does look like a window!
MAKE IT:
- Whisper White folded card: 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", folded in 1/2
- Real Red layer: 4" x 5-1/4"
- Color Me Irresistible woodgrain layer: 3-3/4" x 2-1/2"
- Window Sheet (behind window frame): 2-1/2" x 3-3/4"
- White piece (behind window): 2-1/2" x 3-3/4"
Thanks for sticking with me through this whole blog post.. I know that was a lot of info and photos, but I wanted you to have all the grizzly details… LOL.. get it? 🙂
