I have been enjoying using my custom Spectrum pad, that I inked with Stampin' Up! ink refills (see this post). Today I am sharing a different way to use your rainbow pad… I used "direct to paper" technique with my watercolor paper, spritzed it, added more ink with my refills and blended with the Aqua Painter! I stamped images from the Sheltering Tree stamp set on top and I love it!
See step by step "Direct to Paper" photos below…
- drag the rainbow pad across your paper, pressing as you go
- spritz with water
- add more ink or more water if desired
Note.. you will get different results with different paper. I used Stampin' UP! watercolor paper on my card today.

After the background dried thoroughly, I stamped the tree trunk from the Sheltering Tree set in Early Espresso ink, then stamped the leaf image in several shades of green. I used Call me Clover, Lemon Lime Twist, and Shaded Spruce.
I matted the watercolor paper with Gorgeous Grape cardstock, then added it to a folded Mango Melody card base.
