I recently attended a crafting retreat hosted by Kurstan and she taught us several amazing watercolor techniques. We created this card featuring the Just Because Hostess set and a watercolored background.
We did a watercolor wash with Balmy Blue and Granny Apple Green ink on a piece of watercolor paper with our Aqua Painter, then used the Rectangle Stitched dies to cut out the center to use on our note card.
We stamped the pot image with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with White Embossing Powder. Then we splattered some Granny Apple Green ink with our Aqua Painter onto the finished rectangle, and colored in the leaves for some additional green pops of color with the Aqua Painter and Granny Apple Green ink.
The Stitched Rectangle is mounted to a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock and onto designer paper (now retired Sale-a-Bration paper) and then onto a Whisper White Note Card.
Can you tell we were all having WAY TOO MUCH FUN!? Check out Kurstan’s event schedule HERE. If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area, I hope you’ll consider joining us at an upcoming event!

Patty, where do you live? I am thinking NC…Albemarle? Where did I get that. I live in Welcome now with Lexin.gton address.
Also I was not able to find the retiring hostess sets. Didn’t look hard but link didn’t take me there.
All hostess sets are retiring, you can see them in the back of each catalog or here online: https://www.stampinup.com/ecweb/products/10000/stampin-rewards?dbwsdemoid=2274

I’m a demonstrator and I don’t recall ever seeing this stamp set.
Where in the 2019 Occasions catalog is this stamp located?
It’s on page 54 – one of the 2 hostess sets offered in the Occasions catalog.
Such a lovely card! TFS
My favorite retiring set is Lovely as a Tree. It was one of the first sets I purchased, and it is one of my most used sets. So versatile for any occasion.
Love your blog, Patty. I have learned so much from you. Thank you for all your ideas.
Thanks Tanya.. did you want to comment on the Blog Candy post to be entered to win?
What is a watercolor wash? Your card is beautiful.
Hi Denise, there are lots of ways to do a watercolor wash, it’s basically a wash of color in the background with watercolor paper, and paint or ink. Here is just one of the ways I have done that in the past: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISi1qANlMiY
