Pretty Peacock is a gorgeous new 2019-2021 Stampin’ Up! In Color and I used it for this fun Pocket Card Idea!!
I embossed some Pretty Peacock cardstock with the Subtle embossing folder, then die cut it with the Pocket die. I saw THIS IDEA on Shelli’s blog for a pocket card with a flap and thought, how fun is that!? So I grabbed my Stitched Nested Label die and created a “stitched” pocket flap with some of the same embossed Pretty Peacock cardstock! (there is a straight stitched piece in the set that I used for the stitching at the top of the flap).
I know.. You are probably thinking.. wow.. that’s a super cool idea.. but WHY did you use “Love You” as the sentiment on this card (or of course you might not have even noticed)… well, this was my Happy Anniversary card for my hubby! We recently celebrated 33 years!!
And here is a funny story about that card. After my hubby opened the card at the restaurant, he set it up at the end of the table. When the waiter came by to check on us, Eric told the waiter, “my wife made me that card!”. The waiter actually took some interest in it.. looked it over, and then proclaimed, “Wow, that’s really nice! You could probably do this professionally!” 🙂 I smiled and said, “I do!” 🙂
Did you notice the fun “rivets” on the pocket flap? Those are the new Designer Elements accessories from page 178 in the annual Stampin’ UP! catalog, or #149586 online. If you placed an order in my online store at the end of June, you should have received a sampler pack of these elements from me in your Thank You card!
Finishing Design Touches:
- Love You (from the Enjoy Life stamp set) is stamped in Pretty Peacock ink on a small Stitched Nested Label die
- the Crumb Cake die cut leafy things (sprigs?) are found in the Wild Rose die set
- I frayed the ends of the 3/16″ Braided Linen Trim to add a little rusticness to the card
- I sponged the edges of the pocket with a Sponge Dauber and Pretty Peacock ink, then drew little stitched lines with my Pretty Peacock Stampin’ Write marker
- Pretty Peacock plaid paper in the background is from the 2019-2021 In Color 6×6 DSP pack (4″ x 5-1/4″)
- Card Base: 4-1/4″ x 11″ Thick Whisper White cardstock, scored / folded in 1/2

That’s a very cool card Patty. Congratulations on 33 years. Many more happy years.
I do have a question….how did you make the pocket flap? That piece is not in the think it set.
Hugs, Carol
First of all! Congratulations on 33 years together! That’s great! I’m really happy for you two. Now, could you PLEASE make a short video on how you cut your pocket tab? I’m more of a visual learner! LOL! I was thinking along these lines when our catalogs were out, but couldn’t think where to start from the pocket. Have been dealing with cancer scares! Thank you!
THank you! I cut the small piece of stitched nested label die the size I wanted it and used the straight piece that comes in the set to do the stitching across the top of the pocket. I probably won’t have time to do a video, but will add it to my to-do list.. hope that helps.
Congratulations ❤ great card, cute story ?
