I have LOVED storing my Stampin’ Up! Cardstock in Rainbow Order for the last 2 years. It really helps me to see “all of the blue choices” or “all of the green choices”, etc. at once.
The cardstock in rainbow order shown above includes the new 2020-2022 In Colors. I took the retiring In Colors out of my Stamp-n-Storage paper rack, and put the new In Colors in.
I understand that “rainbow order” might be different for you, and if you’d like to take my suggestion above and use it, feel free. If you prefer to store yours in a different way, that’s totally great, too!!
How I Store my Cardstock:
My 8-1/2″x11″ and 12″x12″ cardstock is all stored in Stamp-n-Storage Paper Holders. Click HERE for the paper holders shown above.
Click HERE for info on how I store my 12×12 cardstock and designer paper.
I love the labeling system shown below to help me see the names of the Stampin’ UP! colors. I use this labeling system from Stamp-n-Storage.
FREE DOWNLOAD:
Click HERE if you’d like to download the pdf for the labels I use. It includes the colors shown above PLUS the new Designer Paper and specialty paper. You can print this out perfectly on Avery Label #5167 or, on a plain sheet of paper and cut them, die cut them, or punch them out.
And BECAUSE I’m HUMAN… I forgot Merry Merlot in the “rainbow order” on the download above, so that’s why it’s at the end of the file. The rest of the color names are shown in the order of my cardstock in Rainbow Order above. I also added Forever Greenery and Basic Gray at the end.. sorry I forgot those!
New In Colors in my Video:
The new 2020-2022 In Colors that were added above are: Magenta Madness, Cinnamon Cider, Bumblebee, Misty Moonlight and Just Jade. You can see them below in my new product video review!

We had a color Marvelous Magenta that retired in 2006
Much as I love the look of the rainbow order, my mind thinks alphabetical. My inks, markers and refills are stored in 2 of the Stamp-n-Storage unit. I never retire anything! Cardstock is in three 4-drawer filing cabinets. Most DSP has been cut down “Love-it-Chop-it” and stored in the 16 case Iris photo boxes I have 10 of those. Also stored alphabetically. And yes, I am a hoarder, but getting better. Stamps with framelits/dies are stored in the same case with Stamp-n-Storage Magnet bundle cases. Stand alone dies in stamp cases labeled by manufacturer and shape. Moving to a new home with a dedicated craft room. All stamps and dies will be housed in DVD cases in several media towers on one wall. Looking forward to actually using my stash, but half the fun has been collecting and organizing it all!!! Really enjoy your tips and hints. blessings
I’m so glad you have such an amazing system for all of your goodies! Your craft room must be amazing!! yay!! happy Crafting!
Good morning Patty,
I do mine exactly like yours. I love this method because it keeps all the similar colors together and when I need a color it makes it much easier to find. Thanks for the new list with the upcoming of the new cardstock colors. I screenshot it so I can rearrange my colors….. I have 2 of the three tier stamp n storage paper holders.. They weren’t cheap but I love them… Now I need a couple more of the stamp case shelves…. I want to put all my Christmas stamp sets together and I need another for my regular stamps… I really love their products
So glad you have enjoyed the rainbow order idea!!
Thank you for your wonderful ideas and downloads. How do you store your cardstock scraps?
I only keep a few scraps of each color and they are in my Paper Drawer of Happiness. You can see it here: https://pattystamps.com/2014/09/pattys-paper-drawer-specials-tomorrow.html
Great video! Can’t wait to see the new catalog. I see several things I must have.. I am not sure if I ordered your new catalog.
Hi Norma, since it’s been a year and a half since you ordered, you were not on my list. Go ahead and fill out the catalog request form so that I’m sure to have your most up to date info.
Hey Patty… Thank you for putting these in order. Do you organize your inks in the same order? I know the new In color inks aren’t out yet but I was thinking about organizing both areas at one time.
Yes, I do my ink pads in rainbow order but since we don’t have the new pads yet, you can see my arrangement for last year here: https://pattystamps.com/2019/05/pattys-stampin-up-rainbow-order-ink-pads.html
Hi Patty, the pockets for your 12×12 paper in your video look clear while the storage files in the video you did in 2016 are more opaque. Are these the same pockets?
I’ve used different brands over the years, and some are a little clearer than others.. they are all great. The ones that are pretty clear are much thinner than the others ones, and tend to rip a little easier. I’d go with the ones I linked on Amazon.
Is your Double points now or on June 2 ?
Did I put the wrong dates in the newsletter? I think the newsletter says May 27 to June 2, 2020. I’ll go double check.
Thank you so much for sharing the download for the labels.
Patty, you have wonderfully informative videos! I’m relatively new to stamping and wondered why you decided to us stampnstorage products over Stampin Up’s storage products? Understanding your rationale would be helpful to me as I’m just about to make decisions on how to store my growing collection of Stampin Up products!
Also, you mentioned Storage Studio’s 12×12 sleeves in one of your videos, emphasizing that they are heavy weight. I like those too. Scrapbook.com offers similar envelopes in sizes suitable for storing stamp sets, dies, and embossing folders (among other things). I’ve read that Avery Elle sleeves have many excellent reviews but also quite a few reviews that they tear easily. Have you used Scrapbook.com’s heavier envelopes at all?
Thank you very much in advance for your insights and I look forward to hearing from you!
Priscilla
Thanks for your kind words!!
I started using Stamp-n-Storage WAY before Stampin’ Up! came out with any storage, and now I have a “hybrid” solution as you can see… I use both. (you can see it in my updated post: https://pattystamps.com/2021/05/2021-2022-stampin-up-catalog-rainbow-order-cardstock-and-ink-pads.html
The customer service and products are amazing, and I’m sure it’s the same with most companies. Yes, I linked to the Avery Elle sleeves in a few of my posts.. those are great!
